Do not make a booking or pay in advance for this hotel as they do not honour your booking. They demanded cash on arrival despite our printed confirmation of payment. The staff called the manager who refused to come to discus the problem. The room they showed us had a wall built immediately in front of the window, so completely... More

Arrived at nuwara eliya after climbing Adams peak. After a little search we decided to go out of our budget and try a -4000rps hotel. We ended up paying 2000 rps for their best room, 3rd floor with an amazing view . A 10 min walk to the city but worth it. Very clean room, hot water, wifi, helpful and... More

Nuwara eliya is at around 1800meters, so be aware, it can be cold. We hadn't reserved anything, so we were walking up the hill, looking for a place to stay. Our first choice was booked, so we eventually came to the rising lion. It was raining and the journey was long, so we stayed. They have a very nice room... More

arrived here just after Christmas and they doubled their room rates. The place is not worth half of what they were asking. said they would not honor my Travelocity booking. had to stay anyway. the rooms were dirty and dated. It is along way from downtown. Avoid if possible.

This place is good for relaxation,so quiet, relaxing and best view of whole Nuwara Eliya town. Good food,Friendly Staff. The reason I have them 3 stars is that we confirmed a booking in the internet but then we arrived, there's no room for us. We needed to wait about an hour untill some other guest's checked out.

All of The staff were really nice and kind! The view from the room was breathtaking (the guesthouse located on the hills a bit higher... More

We stayed there for two nights. And we enjoyed a lot. Hotel staff is very kind. Mr. Pushpike is very kind person. This is second highest view hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Build on higest mountain in Sri Lanka. Grate View form balcony. It is not luxurious, but its very very comfortable. Thanks to Hotel Rising Lion.

We stayed here for one night but we would have stayed longer. The hotel was dated but inviting. It had the feel of an outdated English seaside B&B but this added to its charm. The building was large with plenty of communal areas but could do with a little TLC. Our room was very good value with a large balcony... More

We were looking for a cheap place to stay but since it was late at night we ended up here. The room and bathroom themselves were ok but the rest of the hotel looked like it closed down. The hallways and "restaurant" were really dirty and lacked management. We also tried organising a tour but this was rather difficult. We... More

We arrived with a reservation from booking.com, which the owner did not acknowledge. Claimed they had cut off partnership with booking.com. He sent us to his sister's homestay instead. Suspect that owner speculates in this; have people coming thinking they have a reservation, and then send them off to family guesthouses to give them some business. Whether it's intentional or...
