After a long flight from Australia this was our first hotel and a very good choice. The setting is beautiful. The breakfast room overlooks a forested garden and is a delight to watch the birds and squirrels running around in the morning. The staff were helpful, but English is not widely spoken in this part of Japan. The Onsen was very good and hot. The mineral waters slightly brown are supposed to relax and beautify at the same time.
Also a one night stopped by , because of the long car driving. This is a very busy hotel, not only tourists , business people, also local people ... the date we stayed there was a wedding ceremony. The hotel is nice, with a beautiful chapel for wedding purpose. All the staffs are polite; friendly, helpful, willing to serve. When we are about to park our car at the entrance for loading the luggages, a staff was going to welcome and led the way for us. When we parked, their staffs immediately came to help , check in , check out was smooth, the front desk can speak English . The room was clean and tidy, osen was clean, well organized , but just the changing area was a bit small . We had western style dinner, it was normal. Japanese style Italian food. As a frequent traveler to Italy, I prefer to name it as fusion food, taste was ok, breakfast was ok too! If we didn’t choose the plan included dinner, I think it would be better, as they have many Japanese restaurants too! Every time we passed by the staffs, they would greet us with smile! Price is good as well. Just a tip, if possible, do not take the dinner included plan, I think their Japanese food will be better, and also there are many restaurants near by as well …
Although it's quite a big hotel and there were many people staying there, we felt it was very quiet. We couldn't hear any other noise (except for the little elephants, jumping around in the morning, for a short time, above us). The room was clean and well-equipped with all the essentials. It was slightly old-fashioned in decor but, fairly good for the price ... there was not a lot of extra room for a triple. (It was obviously a twin room turned into a triple.) The beds were quite comfortable. (We may have stayed in an older room ...???) The 3 choices offered for brekkie were very good. The Tokachi white eggs (produced only in that area) omelettes were delicious. Just be careful to choose your timing, if you want a quiet & relaxing brekkie - don't choose 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. The main reason for choosing this hotel, was for the onsen (hot spring). The Moor Hot Spring (one of a kind in the world) was unique ... it felt very relaxing and the water was just right, (hot enough) for a long soak. It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The brown coloured spring water has the natural organic groundwater come up thru the earth and layers of plants ... the plant-derived algae, found in the spring water is really good for the skin. The semi outside; rotenburo was fairly big and not as warm (it is winter), as the inside baths. Although, we didn't take advantage of it, this time ... the early check-in (2 p.m.) and late check-out (11 a.m.) would be nice to take advantage of - longer soaks in the hot spring. The hotel staff were polite & accommodating, too ... overall, we enjoyed our stay.…
My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the hotel for a wedding party. The hotel is well-known in the Obihiro area for weddings with perhaps 4 a day being held at weekends. The hotel itself was established at the end of the 19th century and is built with bricks from the area. It's a fine looking building although the grounds could do with a tidy up. There are two wings, Hidaka and Garden. Our room was in the Hidaka wing. Had it been in the Garden wing and like the images in posters in the hotel, I would have given a higher rating. The Hidaka wing room was pretty small, although typical of many Japanese hotel rooms. It was also a bit drab. I thought it quite clean but my wife had reservations about the carpet. Still, it was sufficient for sleeping and that was enough. There is an onsen bath on the first floor of the Garden wing. This is a Mo-ru onsen, of which there are few. The water is brown. Although quite small they do fit in a couple of jet baths, regular Mo-ru, rotenburo, sauna, and cold water bath. Towels are provided so no need to take them from the bedroom. Not a great onsen but sufficient. There are two restaurants in the Garden wing. The Bird Watch Cafe, where breakfast is taken, and a Japanese restaurant. The Bird Watch Cafe overlooks the garden and has a small teppanyaki area, and the Bear Bar (whiich is just a counter with stools) It's not worth using the bar since drinks can be had at the table or in the lobby lounge, both of which are far more comfortable. The Japanese side is split between an izakaya area and a sushi bar. The Western and Japanese food are very good, although the steak sizes are tiny. For breakfast there is a choice of Japanese, Western, or Soup Curry. Western comes with unlimited amounts of bread and Danish, which are baked in the hotel. The staff are excellent, most are cheerful and quite helpful. As a note, the hotel is served by shuttle bus to and from Obihiro airport. The buses are scheduled to meet the flights. Costs is 1,000 yen per person and the stops are in the road in front of the hotel. The bus does not pull up to the hotel entrance. The stop from the airport is on the side of the road closest to the hotel and on the other side of the road to go to the airport. You can pay the driver or buy tickets in advance.…
Only issue was the hot springs otherwise I would give it a 5, hot springs not awful but not great. Otherwise food was great and staff was wonderful. Regular rooms are very small and the bathrooms are pretty good.
Excellent "Cost-Performance" hotel. Hotel people are friendly and meticulous attitude. Hot spring is in the hotel inside. The spring quality is quite good moor spring; water contain many organic origin soil. Above all else, you can do squirrels watch in the morning "Bird Watch Cafe"
I find everything hydraulic in this hotel including the pen at the hotel lobby, all doors in the room...... good room size with modern facilities such as electronically controlled fire place. They really go into detail of putting a handrail on the step near the door. The private onsen in the room lack the privacy that we expect since it's facing the windows opposite the street. Nevertheless, a comfortable stay with good French dinner and Japanese breakfast!
I was there in November around the time of the first snows. Probably since it was off season (cold for hiking but not enough snow yet for swimming) I paid a very small price and even had breakfast included. One could choose an Indian, Western, or Japanese breakfast and self-serve on beverages. There is a very high quality hot spring bath there.
We had to make an overnight stopover in the city of Obihiro to catch a bus that would take us up to Lake Akan to go skiing the following day. A friend in Hawaii recommended we stay at the Hokkaido Hotel and so we booked one-night in a family suite that included a in-room onsen. We were supposed to do a bit of shopping at the nearby Aeon Mall but then ended up spending our entire day relaxing in the room because the beds were so comfortable. It truly was like being in a spa - ALL-DAY-LONG, especially since we could go in and out of our own private outdoor onsen (hot spring). Because it was still snowing outside it was a truly magical experience being able to sit in on our balcony and enjoy the beauty of the snow while relaxing in the onsen. There was a free mini-bar as well and one of the best in-room coffee we've ever had, apparently supplied by local farmers in Tokachi. The breakfast was great as well you could choose from either Japanese or American. We wished we could have stayed at least 2 days here. The plan is to go back in the Spring again.…
This is a nice hotel with an Aeon supermarket and shopping centre within walking distance, so there is no short of amenities nearby. It even comes with a chapel near the lobby (used for wedding purposes), and it is really nice. Room is fairly basic but clean, and windows that can be opened, which is a personal choice, really. The onsen in this hotel operates 24/7, and though small, it's mineral-based so the air is 'cleaner'. However, its outdoor pools are largely boxed in, and views are quite restricted. Overall, a good hotel for short stays.
