Our family of five stayed here for a few nights and were welcomed with open arms by Sasi and Geetha, we felt like part of the family. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. There was plenty of space for the five of us. We enjoyed good food and good conversation. Even went for a tour on the Royal Enfield. We'll definately try and go there again some time.

Papa Stays is about 5 miles north of Allepy in Mannancherry down a quiet little road that leads to the lake. It is set in about 2Ha of lush garden walled on 3 sides and a canal on the 4th side. It feels and is very secure and tranquil haven. The rooms are in a beautiful heritage style bungalow that has been in the same family for at least 3 generations. The owners live in an equally beautiful but newer building on the same plot. Sasi the owner is very proud of the heritage and it also seems that his family at one time owned most of the village. He is clearly well known in the village with everyone saying hello when he took us on a guided walk around the village. Sasi also came with us on a day's boat ride on the backwaters bringing everything we saw to life, and stopping the boat at various places so we get of and see things close up, sample some toddy, have tea and pastries in a waterside cafe (60rupees for 4 teas and pastries - its a joke). The food was traditional Kerelan and we had all our meals in the main house cooked by Sasi's wife. Sasi was very generous with time, we had some long chats (sometimes too long) about Indian politics, religion, business life, and more. He was also more than happy to run us around (at a small cost) and make sure we got to see the best of the area and to set us up for the rest of our travels - I would not have otherwise discovered the pleasures of the Indian Coffee Houses. Just a couple of observations about the room: like most Indian homestays the bed is very firm for europeans and the air con was Icy cold - welcome for a while but with no adjustment it was off overnight.

Words are expressionless to thank you for the sincere,in depth, closely watched feelings and experiences you had, when with Pappa Stays. We fully appreciate your views and accept the suggestions given against some of your observation on us. Regarding the air cons,we were rather compelled to remove the setting knobs with it,since some of the earlier guests tampered with them to render it serviceless.Since this incident only we placed a request to our guests in our site, to invite our attention to your requirements of settings of the major gadgets. The bed is of traditional standards and hence is so. However we are really sorry that this didn't reach your desired requirement, which we will take care in the future. Please remember to support us establish and develop the theme of "GLOBAL FAMILY",about which you were told and wherein you are already made members. Keep in touch .Thank you and WELCOME again !!!!!

From the moment we arrived at Pappa Stays, Sasi and Geetah made us feel at home. What a charming and generous couple. Sasi made sure we had everything we needed and he also planned some activities for us. He was very generous with his time, he shared many meals with us, told us numerous stories and also answered many questions we had about India and hinduism. If you want some quiet time he'll understand too. Staying in the heritage buildings made it a unique Kerala experience. The doors to the modern house were always opened to us. The property is also a nice place to simply relax. We will remain in touch with our new Indian friends. It was a real pleasure to meet them.

This was our first homestay and hence there were lot of doubts in our mind until the day we arrived in Alleppey. Right from our first interaction with Mr. Sasi who owns this homestay he was friendly & helpful until we departed from Alleppey. The facility is a renovated ancestral property carrying more than 150 years of heritage. One could see that in the annexe of his office. Our room was quite spacious and well set up for 4 of us and there is lot of verandah for the kids to play around. The surprise awaited until we opened the back door which sees into a silent canal which meets into the Vembanadu lake a few hundred meters from here. We could see canoes riding on it which is their version of bicycle for the natives who live here. As we wanted to make the best within 3 days of our stay here we asked Mr. Sasi himself to propose us a sightseeing plan. Our only preference was to see around the heritage but to avoid the hot sun. So he suggested a Shikara ride for the first day. Mr. Sasi being a native of this geography knows people around and that helped us to hook on to the best shikara ride around the villages and islands of Alleppey. Despite a peak season he was able to get us the best negotiated rate for 6 hours of a ride that kept us happily relaxed. It was very unusual for us who lived in Chennai & Bangalore for years to experience a culture that uses waterway for everyday transportation. From people living on the banks of the canals with individually owned canoes for transportation to Alleppey's state transportation boats pulling over to the banks to alight and board passengers to a wide spread paddy cultivation meters below the water level on which we were riding to couple spots were our shikara pulled over as Mr. Sasi wanted to meet his friends right on the banks & as well for our food breaks were very unusual to imagine. That was a thorough enjoyment. On request he also accompanied us on our sightseeing to Marari beach, Arthungal church, Vaikom Mahadeva temple which helped us to understand a bit of history of these places and the kids enjoyed too. Except for one or two meals which we took outside, we had the rest of the meals with his family and that was another highlight of this stay. In fact we left our kids with Mrs. Sasi when we went for the Ayurvedic therapy which is another piece of healing we enjoyed on this tour. Altogether it felt like visiting a family who knew the geo around the spot. And we look forward to another trip there.

I, my wife and two kids stayed at Pappa Stays in early January 2015. The owner Sasi and his wife took very good care of us, opening their home for us to dinner together. Sasi also was a very enthusiastic guide, showing us many interesting things in the area, such as the Backwaters, Coconut Museum, Ayurvedic institutions, great restaurants etc. A very personal experience giving us good insights into the Kerala Culture. Pappa Stays is a cozy and beautiful place with a genuine feeling. I'd recommend anyone to spend a few days there.

We, Pappa Stays, thank and appreciate your most cordial friendship and cooperation. While we feel happy about your bosom views on us,we reaffirm that we will spare no efforts to make your next visit much more wonderful and unique. We still do have a gap of happiness in entertaining you, for the shortness of time we had with you all. We really enjoyed your presence with us especially the two Children who really became a part of Pappa's family! May we avail the freedom of requesting you to pass a word on us to your friends, kith and kins.
