A nice heritage building with guest rooms dotted throughout. Set back from the road in a quiet spot in Alappuzha. We were welcomed with open arms the moment we set foot here and were looked after well until we left. Sona, the owner, was always available with great advice. Rooms were very spacious with french windows all around providing a...

Stayed here for one night when backpacking around Kerala. Is a little bit out of town - fine to walk but you do need a torch at night! We walked one way and get a tuk tuk back on the evening. There isn't a great deal in alleppey, its more of a stop over place before or after a tour...

Charming little place that's far enough away from the center of town that it's quiet and peaceful. Colonial style buildings, beautiful gardens, interesting fellow travelers, and a super laid back vibe made it special. The owner, Sona, was a bit of a character (in a good way)--he gave us great advice on where to eat. His wife was sweet and...

It's cheap in every sense of the word, small cluttered rooms, dirty with no privacy. It's nowhere near anywhere and the garden is nothing special. Breakfast was tiny even by Indian standards, you do not feel welcomed or cared for. Most importantly do not use them to book your house boat trip it is only a another sham leaving you...

We arrived tired and were greeted with "oh its you", before immediately being shown an old recommendation book about how great the place was...very rude. Our room was dirty, and had rats in the roof space above us. We were charged for two breakfasts and brought half of the wrong one, they then tried to add extra money to the...

Very reasonable place for the price (800/nt), good breakfast avail and incredibly friendly owner and staff. We booked our houseboating trip through them and had a great experience. But nowhere near the backwaters, lacks the ambiance of some of the others.

pros: - very clean - around the hotel it is green, very relaxing - very helpful and honest hotel owner - good price for room and other services cons: - possible to walk within 10 minutes to the center, but when it is hot a bit fare, take a tuk tuk - he organise boot tours, ensure that you tell...

We didn't like the rooms at al, they were very dirty. Far from the centre. No possibility to eat something there, or to have breakfast. The only positive thing was that the owner was friendly and funny.

Sona Homes was a very comfortable place to stay with basic furnishings. They a offer a nice basic breakfast of either pancakes with banana or boiled eggs. They are located conveniently a short walk away from the local town. During our 3 night stay we went on to a house boat for one of the nights which Sona organized for...

I was NOT satisfied with the hotel. The owner simply took back our room 24 hours after our arrival sayng that it had been booked for someone else.... and that almost ruined our trip to India. We were tired, coming back from a long boat trip, without dinner but happy that we would tell him about the backwaters when -...

“The chalets opposite the main house look more private and have their own little balconies. The rooms in main house also have balconies but the one by the main door is a bit less private so try and get one of the others.”
