My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. The bungalows are basic, but reasonably priced. It's about a 30 min walk (or $2 tuk tuk ride) from the main riverside area, and is very chilled out. If you want a big party, or to be near the action, this isn't your place. However, if you just want to relax and watch the river roll by, it is perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food is solid, a little pricier than in town but not significantly so, and the setting of the restaurant (on a deck built out over the river) makes up for that. That being said, if you are expecting creature comforts (air-con, hot water), this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for somewhere to unwind after the hustle and grit of Phnom Penh or the go go party of Sihanoukville, while still being reasonably close to town, this is the place.

Cabanas on poles could be nice, but in the dark, climbing/descending the stairs is dangerous, that's a point. But the worst was about f..... dogs (resort's dogs!) barking every two hours, sometimes UNDER my cabana! And, cherry-on-the-cake, the top of the top was reached when an old hoarse cock "sang" at 4 in the morning! Finally, exhausted by my precedent fly trip, I felt asleep....until 7, when the workers building something in wood awoke me with the melodious sound of a big electric saw. Never more "Samon's Village", no, thank you. Sorry for the staff, who was very nice. PS: I can provide an easy recipe of "cock in red wine". But for dogs, I never cooked any, but I know (cause I refused to eat some one time) it's commonly roasted in oven.

I stayed in a bungalow with attached bath for 3 nights. The riverfront dining and chill area is marvelous with helpful staff and fans at every seat to keep cool and keep the bugs away. The bungalow had a hammock and a lock which was nice. Very comfy pillow and beds. On the downside, I got very very sick with food poisioning which I am 90% sure was from the flaming beef I ate here. It had a strange smell when served and I almost sent it back but it tasted fine so regrettably, I ate it. 12 hours later, I became incredibly sick for a full 4 days. I almost went to the hospital. In addition, the mosquitos in the room were awful,as could be expected, but the mosquito net had many holes. The bungalow did not seem very sturdy, either, as i almost fell through the floor and there was a termite nest in the roof. I think that this property is a bit overpriced for such rustic accommodation and combined with the terrible food poisioning makes me not reccommend this as a place to stay. There are better eco options in Kampot along the river.

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights and we loved it! We booked the double hut where two beds were included and has a little stair in the hut! I really liked the restaurant which was next to Kampot River and it’s just so nice to have beers and just chill there :) also toilet/bathroom is not in the hut but it’s outside except if you booked family room or something like that. Anyway what bothered us a lot when we’re staying there, there’s always gonna be music playing outloud from neighbors like 3km and it’s still banging loud. A little discomfort during night when we’re bout to sleep. All the staffs are sweet and helpful they’re mostly young too. But all is good thank you Samon!

We stayed for two nights in Sammom Village and it was hard to say goodbay. We stayed in the a big house tree and the experiende was awesome. The place itself is special, and just 5 minutes drive from town center( 20 min walking). The staff were very friendly and helpfull . We felt at home. Delicious restaurant and good prices. Another highlight was Deva vegan cafe just 1 minute walking from Sammon village: yoga classes and delicious breakfast and meals while helping womens from a poor background. We highly recommend this place in Kampot and we'll be back as soon as possible!
