We spent around 5 days at the Magic Sponge and it was a great time. The host is really friendly and welcomed us with a icecold drink. The rooms are pretty spacious and very comfy. You got a great working air condition, two big single beds and a nice and clean bathroom. The location of the Magic Sponge is very good and you have a bunch of restaurants around you, but you can also dine at the guesthouse. Beside the great rooms and the cool ambience you can play pool or minigolf for free (which is pretty awesome!). All in all the Magic Sponge is just a great guesthouse, which a chilled and cool host.

I stayed here with my family twice and the friendly owner William is does his best to make your stay a good one. We had the family room which was 1 big bed and 2 singles ($32 a night at the time of booking). Sheets were clean, towels were also good quality and clean and the shower was hot. We had a huge tv and Netflix in the room too. Free welcome drink on arrival.

There is a restaurant on site and it does big portions for a very reasonable price. Their daily specials are good, especially the breakfast bagel.

The mini golf was the main reason we booked and it was a hit with my 2 children. They could play as many times as they wanted for free and kept them entertained for a long time.

There is a swimming pool available to use for $3 each 100m away and it is only a 5 min walk in to the town.

We will definitely come back and stay again.

We stayed at Magis sponge for 6 nights and there is absolutely nothing negative to say about the place. The rooms are extremely clean, well furnished with nice decor and the comfiest beds ever. Hot water is the shower was really nice, the room could have done with a mini fridge was the only thing lacking.

The proprieter, William was nothing more than a complete host, friendly and helpful, as were his staff. The food is excellent and good value for money, the breakfasts are the best in town and expect big portions.

I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for value for money, cleanliness and good food, very centrally located and easy to get into town

My room was spotless, everything was functional, they gave me 2 free drinking waters daily, there was a huge flat screen TV, which swung out over the bed with Netfix and a host of numerous other channels to view. I could also have food delivered to my room, which I really appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful, as well as proficient in english. The bathroom was well stocked with all the amenities and I slept soundly. Quiet neighborhood and the Security there was A+. Oftentimes I go back to dine in or take out. Met some other guests there from Italy, UK and America...all very nice people, easy to approach and have a good chat with.

My stay here was an absolute delight, especially thanks to William, our host, who was not only extraordinarily attentive and solution-oriented but also showed a contagious enthusiasm for his job and the well-being of his guests. The entire team is very motivated. Above all, I enjoyed the good food - simply outstanding!

The value for money exceeded my expectations. It is rare to find such a Western standard at such a fair price. The location in Kampot was good too.

In the immediate vicinity, there were practical services such as motorcycle rental and a laundry, which made the stay even more pleasant.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially to those who are looking for a touch of Western standard without having to dig deep into their pockets. A great find!

Only stayed for one night due to travel commitments but would have stayed longer. Very clean and good facilities. I've read that one of the downstairs rooms can be noisy, however, we were upstairs and had no issues at all. The AC/fan works perfectly and there is a great TV in the room. Perfect stay if you want to get away from busier/commercial hotels. William is friendly, accommodating and full of helpful suggestions. He remembered our names and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Slightly more expensive that some private rooms in hostels, but much better value than a lot of similar rooms in other hotels. The standard of room matches the top hotels, but comes with a friendly, personalised service too that you simply won't find in bigger, commercial establishments. Would definitely return here if back in Kampot.

I went to the Magic Sponge as I saw on a Facebook group that they were offering bangers and mash and being a Brit I really felt like a taste of home! On arrival I was greeted by the friendly owner who told me of the specials they had that day. You could tell straight away he was proud and passionate about what they were offering. I told him I had my heart set on the bangers and mash and took a seat in the nicely manicured and shaded garden. When the food came the owner proudly told me the sausages were made specifically for them by a local butchers. They were absolutely divine, as good as the finest butchers sausages in the UK. The mash and gravy were also perfect. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more of their offerings!

Spent a wonderful three nights here. The room's clean with a comfortable bed, strong AC and also a TV with Netflix. The guesthouse has a relaxed atmosphere during the day and is quiet at night time. It's just a short stroll into town too. William's a friendly host and him and all the staff made us feel welcome. He also kindly sorted us a tuk-tuk tour of the countryside. Excellent breakfast. Will definitely return if I'm back in Kampot.

We stayed with William for 2 nights and it‘s rather difficult not using superlatives when describing the experience.

Luckily enough we arrived on a Tuesday, right on time for the the „Supertaco Tuesday“! This once-a-week experience gives you an american sized portion of a taco. And when I say „american sized“, I really mean BIG!

You pay USD 5.- and even get a free drink! Many people struggle with the huge portion but we managed. :-)

The magic sponge does not only offer tacos but also many other dishes such as asian, indian etc. And no matter what you order, you can rest assured that you will not leave hungry and not burn a hole in your wallet. They write „A whole world of food - American sized portions“ for a reason after all.

But there‘s more than just the yummy food! You‘re staying in this beautiful and well looked after old building with lovely rooms and comfortable beds.

Plus you get to enjoy free pool (snooker) and mini-golf - as much and as often as you like!

William is a really cheerful and welcoming person and together with his lovely staff he makes sure that you feel right at home. He also has his own TukTuk-driver who took us out for a day to see the pepper plantations and much more.

We loved every single minute of it and wholeheartedly recommend him and his guesthouse. We have travelled many years and have yet to stay at a better guesthouse than his.

Thanks for everything, William!
