Good prices, good coffee, decent breakfast and near anything you might want or need. Rooms have a/c and fan options and the place is generally quiet. It's a local khmer place and the people are very nice and courteous and also very helpful.
I arrived for my third time at the “Good Morning Kampot Guest House”; as i ‘ve been before without any complaints I thought to stay all my short visit of about 3 nights in Kampot over there. At the counter I found a very young boy wich was not speak English at the level to understand more than “I would like to have a room” or “how much is for a room”... As I’ve been before and I know the room I didn’t care about and i get the room; i just had a short barged about the price. The last year was 15$ for a room this year is increase 5$ so i manage to have it for 17$ as i was not into losing too long time i agree for three nights but at the condition to change the room the day after. As i was not booking online the same room was already booked the day after so i agree to moving in another one for the rest 2 nights. At the counter the boy get my documents and make a registration and he didn’t ask me money so I suppose i can pay at the end. The room was not very clean, the toilet without windows was even worse dirty, its a humid smelly insane room but i know Cambodia very well so i accept some miss-understand and i did not complain. The morning after as I wake up i meet in the reception an older guy wich apparently was the owner of the place and he wached me with a suspected face and told to me than he knows I didn’t yet pay the room. As was a weird sentence i said to him quitely than there is no problem i’ll full up a coffee and i will pay him and i did not do it before because his receptionist didn’t mention to me about a early payment, i left the place and i grab my coffe. In the way back i stop to the reception to pay the room and ask in wich room i should moving as we agree for 3 nights at the condition to moving up the 2 night in another room. With any feelings the owner told me than the rooms are full booked with a fake smile and a fake interest like if i’m not a person and i’m just a tourist wich bring money.. exactly with the attitude of a manager wich lost humanity and it’s all about business. I immediately answer than I booked for 3 nights and he answered me than the boy in the reception the last night was not professional enough. I insist than I booked for 3 nights and thats not cool, but he answered to me than sadly they had online bookings during the night. I did not insist again, i just said than that not professional and than not even Cambodian way to act. Cambodia change fast and the genuine people start to have a loop in the brain about make money and they loose the nice welcome so... “Good Morning Kampot Guest House” is a mix between unprofessionally owner and a western manager wich is very strictly on rules. Dirty room, dirty place, high prices, unprofessional owner wich act like a responsable manager but without the charm make a almost comic person and weird athmosphere. I bring my bag from the room i said to them than is better refuse a booking for a mistake administration than loose an old customer wich will leave a bad review. I turn around the corner in the road behind, i enter in a nice building Guest House, a worm old woman was welcome me, I found a room bigger, more clean, with a balcony for 15$, fortunately the old school Cambodia is still in the air. But for the old “Good Morning Guest House Kampot” is the sunset.…
Rooms are OK, a bit dirty though. No wardrobe and be careful with the things you leave in the room, can be easily stolen. The staff in general not very welcoming, would not recommend for more than few nights.
Staff are friendly and helpful and food available was good value and decent. The room however was very damp (physically the sheets plus damp smell) as it has no windows and just a fan. Pillows also had mould so slept without. It also had a serious amount of ants in the bedroom, we sprayed mosquito spray at the source and it stopped the majority but still had the odd few . All in all it was a decent spot but try get a room with AC or a window. We paid really low on a deal online so endured it for one night. We did see into other rooms and they looked a little better.
Cheap , room on the top very noisy as the have a roof top bar that starts at 6-12 every night playing mostly rock music, nice staff , and ok restaurant.. fantastic location and middle floor rooms fine, good ac and quite .. ask for middle floor no windows .. it definitely the best type of room
