Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s a great hotel but what makes it stand out is the great staff. Particularly Beverly ! She went out of her way to help me with a couple of needs and had a smile on her face the whole time. She actually gave me her own glasses cleaner. The other staff was always helpful too when dealing with a package that was shipped.

Leslie and the team at the bar were wonderful; professional, courteous, efficient. Leslie dealt with some unfriendly and “entitled “ guests but was consistent in her level of service. Thanks for a great experience, Leslie!

Solid hotel in the middle of Brooklyn. The rooms are large, especially considering the location in DUMBO. The hotel is nice and well maintained. The daily charge for food, dry cleaning, etc. is a little off-putting, especially for quick stays.

I had a lovely experience at this Marriott. Everyone who worked there were both friendly and professional. I do have to single out 2 lovely ladies: Beverly at the front desk, who took her time to answer all questions and was also very accommodating. She encouraged and signed me up for the Marriott Loyalty Program. Agnes, was also Lovely, it amazes me that both these ladies really took the time to know their guests, by day 2, they not only remembered my name, but also the room number. They do really give you such a warm welcome. The hotel, itself was clean, and overall very user friendly. I used their fully-equipped gym everyday. It would be nice if the bar area, was open more often during the day.

We have stayed at this hotel a few times to visit our son in Brooklyn Heights. It’s clean and convenient. However, the most recent visit was extra special, because we met Candace when we checked in. The staff is always really pleasant, but Candace was the best first impression we’ve experienced at a hotel ever. She was smiling when she greeted us, she answered all of our questioned, and she left us smiling and excited for the day. She’s a winner!

We stayed here as part of a wedding group. Service was first-rate from moment we drove up to unload our car to check-in to check-out. I have never met more friendly and helpful staff every step of the way. Location was great, convenient to subway, eateries and more. Rooms were large (especially by NYC standards!) but could have been better furnished. No chairs to sit in, even to just put on shoes. And lighting was poor, especially in bathrooms. But even so, we'd stay there again.

Had a great stay for one night. Dante at the front desk was very helpful, held my luggage until my room was ready and recommended a delicious dinner spot. Thank you Dante! Wonderful experience and wonderful staff.

This hotel is in a premiere location, steps from the Brooklyn Bridge and several subway lines. And the staff (in particular the doormen and front desk) were unfailingly kind. However, having stayed at many, many Marriott properties all over the country, this Marriott feels like its first goal is to extract money from its customers, instead of hospitality. They charge a $25/day "destination fee," which covers 20% off dry cleaning, $25/day F&B credit at the bar, a 1-time Lyft credit of $15, and enhanced internet. Starting with the internet: I'm a Platinum member. I get enhanced internet for free as part of my membership. I was thus paying for something I already get for free. No concession was offered. As for the dry cleaning, it, too, is not a real benefit. Sure enough, you're within steps of many courthouses and I imagine many business travelers stay at the hotel. I have been on hundreds of business trips and never once paid for dry cleaning at a hotel -- for a 2-3 night stay, I just do the dry cleaning back home. Not sure what the benefit is of dry cleaning to simply return back home with wrinkled clothes. The F&B credit is similarly frustrating. If I wanted to spend $25/day at a hotel bar, I would just do so. But you're in downtown Brooklyn, steps from Manhattan, there are hundreds of better places to eat and drink all around. And it's not like the prices at the hotel bar are worth it- $18 for a glass of red wine; $10 for a draft beer. You can pay those same prices and be at a place with an ambience that it is a hotel bar. Finally, breakfast. Marriott Platinum guests are entitled to free breakfast. It's right there in the contract. But the lounge where breakfast is served is closed on weekends. I asked the front desk about Section 4.3.c.iv.A of the Terms and Conditions of the Bonvoy program but got a lot of blank stares - no points or compensation were offered, as required. I urge management to reconsider the destination fee in whole, and to open the lounge on weekends or offer appropriate compensation. This is a great hotel with so much potential.

Very disappointed with this hotel. We had stayed here before and were happy with it. However, it has been redone and we found our room very uncomfortable and dark. It was quiet but the furnishings were not comfortable and the lighting was terrible. When we went to breakfast the coffee shop didn’t even provide a decent place for dining and the food was all prepackaged and tasted stale. When you entered the hotel you had to use an escalator or elevator to get to the lobby and then another elevator to get to your room. The staff were good and friendly but I doubt I will stay at this hotel again.

I’ve stayed at this property frequently times since it opened. You can’t beat the location and the staff is also solid. That said, it’s time for a complete renovation IMO. Rooms- while still clean have all old furniture, TV’s, etc. No USB’s bedside is inexcusable in 2022 Gym - no water available and at least 1/3 is the cardio equipment is out of order. M lounge - one of THE main reasons I stay here now. Previously open 24-7 is now only open 4 hours a day , weekdays only for breakfast. Eggs were literally tasteless and the rest of the food, just ok. This has been my go to hotel in Brooklyn 2 times a year; now I will honestly have to re think that until a renovation occurs.
