This is a beautiful historic property that has been decorated in style. The location is off the beaten path, but with a couple of great restaurants nearby and easy access to the subway. Very comfortable rooms. The staff was great... very helpful and interesting people.

If you're looking for an alternative to overcrowded hotels in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, then Akwaaka is your answer. For a short cab ride (30 minutes), I enjoyed -- albeit briefly (only stayed one night) -- a moment in history at this historic mansion. Comfortable bed, easy to get to, personable owner who welcomed me warmly and wished me...

The Jacuzzi is fabulous. The big comfy beds are relaxing. The room designs are magnificent. No televisions in the rooms allowed us to escape the outside world and enabled us to really enjoy each others company.

Looking forward to visit soon, while growing up in florida, my uncle and aunt lived there, i used to spend summers there, even back then, 40 years ago, the place made you feel special, after reading some of the reviews, the Akwaaba Mansion still has that charm.

Spectacular house with very comfortable rooms and wonderful staff. A very homey feeling too which is nice if you travel alone. Breakfast was excellent, homemade and huge. Plenty of nice restaurants around.

My husband and I live in NYC and we've stayed here three times. Each time it's been nothing short of magical. The rooms are immaculate, beautifully decorated, and cozy, the breakfast is wonderful, and we met guests from all over the world. Walking around the garden in the back and strolling down the street for coffee is so relaxing you...

My husband and I had an intimate 55 person wedding ceremony and dinner at Akwaaba Mansion last year. I cannot say enough about Monique and the entire team who made our wedding night simply magical. We literally pinched ourselves the next morning! Though we booked the Inn early in our engagement, we waited until sort of last minute to put...

I stayed here on my wedding night in the Jumping the Broom Suite and it was nothing short of amazing. The room was dimly lit and romantic and immaculately clean. We arrived late but the property itself is beautiful and has the old school Brooklyn Charm. We were served a delicious breakfast in bed the next morning of delicious pancakes,...

I've never stayed at a B&B quite like Akwaaba. The word 'akwaaba' means 'welcome,' and that spirit could not have been better embodied. The mansion itself has all sorts of feels. It retains much of the original 1860s fixtures. The common rooms have a grandeur, yet they manage to retain a warmth. Sherry was the perfect host. She welcomed us...
