the Commodore Hotel is exactly the kind of hotel that my husband and I enjoy staying at. While the bathrooms and showers are shared, the cost is reasonable, the rooms are clean and the decor is simple urban chic. I like the location, downtown Astoria. However, I think my favorite part of staying there (we just returned from a weekend...

Really enjoyed how this hotel maintained the historical building, but updated with clean, basic furniture. Happy hour includes local beer and wine. Enjoy the record collection and dvd collection. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because the traffic was a bit loud outside. This is just because of the location.

Our recent stay at the Commodore was like walking into a Schoolhouse lighting catalog. The design team did a top notch job to retain the rich history when it renovated it with a modern industrial hip vibe. If that wasn't cool enough, the bed was soooo comfy and the sheets were luxuriously soft! They even provided earplugs in the case...

I was a late arrival on a Wednesday night, so I missed the fun earlier in the evening. It is a European style hotel, with only a sink in the room. The toilets and showers are in separate, private rooms down the hall - you won't be sharing your shower space like you were back in the high school gym!...

We overnighted here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a bit noisy in spite of the double glazing, but has a lot more personality than the usual places. The riverfront area nearby has many dinner options. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I felt like I was sleeping in my grade school. Old hotel with beautiful woodwork. Minimal art and white walls played up the woodwork. Happy hour beer. Worried that it was not air conditioned. In May we merely opened a window. One unpleasant thing. Our room was never cleaned after our first of the two nights we were there. Mentioned...

Thank you for your thoughtful comments and review. I am very sorry to hear that you didn't receive expected stay-over housekeeping service. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We do aim to provide this each day (typically between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.). I am doing everything I can to make sure this will not...

This is definitely a hipster hotel, reminding me of the Ace Hotel in Portland, with nice lobby and guest area and coffee shop next door. Cool decor in the room, bathroom just around the corner. Great position in the middle of Astoria, which is an awesome little town with some great beer bars. Friendly staff, greeted with a small local...

I really want to be able to rate this hotel higher. It has so much potential. I love the fun decor in the lobby (including the 8 ball you can consult while listening to records with headsets). The ambiance is fun and cool. It's a nice touch that you can check DVDs out from their library. Yet, while the website...

Very friendly hotel. Fred at the front desk was so helpful and kind. The room we had was sweet, warm and inviting. Only caution is coffee house connected to the hotel. Very rude barrista waited on us last Tuesday April 5th. Would go elsewhere for am coffee if I go again. Otherwise, a great experience.

Interesting feel, really like the historical aspect and look. Comfortable bed, wonderful deep tub for a warm soak at the end of a long travel day. Very clean. Unfortunately noisy however. Nice to offer movies to watch but what's the point if the loud music that went til 11:30 prevents you from enjoying it? Earplugs are provided for sleep which...

Hello Debra, Thank you for your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered. Our front desk host should have informed you of the fact that we have hair dryers, toothbrushes, etc. behind the front desk. As far as the noise is concerned, you can always call down to the front desk with complaints and they will...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of the Astoria Downtown Historic District, the Commodore Hotel occupies the 1925 Lewis Building, designed by John E. Wicks, Astoria's most influential architect. The hotel operated from 1925 until 1968, first as the Barton Inn Hotel and then as the Commodore. Shuttered for 40 years, the Commodore reopened in 2009 after an extraordinary renovation. Retaining the original doors, windows, woodwork, and fixtures-all meticulously rehabilitated-the Commodore is now a shining example of the highest standards of contemporary design and construction. The Commodore shares the historic Lewis Building with the legendary Street 14 Coffee, which you can enter directly from the lobby. Downtown Astoria is overflowing with sensory delights-dining, shopping, hiking and more are at your fingertips. Take a romantic stroll along the scenic Riverwalk. Take a ride on the Riverfront Trolley. Take a swim at the Aquatic Center. As our guest, you have access to a curated selection of films available on DVD from the front desk. Watch Goonies in the town where it was filmed. Spend a blustery night curled up with Chinatown or Magnolia. Put together a personal film festival by choosing from over 100 available titles ranging from 3 Days of the Condor to The X-Files. The Commodore understands the importance of sustainable and Earth-friendly business practices. We recycle-and we encourage our guests to do the same-and the hotel is kept sparkling with eco-safe cleaning products. Our commitment to sustainability is recognized by the Travel Oregon Forever Network. Free parking is readily available within a few blocks. Short-term street parking in front of the hotel is usually an option for check-in. The front desk can guide you to long-term parking near the hotel. ... more   less
