When we checked in and went to our room, we were greeted with a wet used towel on the floor in the shower. They said sorry, and somebody else clean the room the day before. They gave us fresh towels. We stayed because we figured it was a great location and we were only going to be there to sleep. Wrong thinking. There was mold and filth everywhere, especially in the shower and bath. No reception area, have to walk up to the second floor and it’s in a closet. No elevator for a four-story hotel. Have to carry your own luggage upstairs. The coffee in the coffee pot in the hallway looks like it’s been there for a week. Old fruit in the fruit basket. Open crackers. And poor old awful art on the walls. The Bed barely fits in the tiny room. Foam Mattress was badly stained. No smoking in the hotel but the room next to us stunk of smoke as we walked by. The walls had plaster peeling on them and un-painted patches. The side tables were old and cracked. Bottom section was locked with no key. The lamps on the tables were broken one of them had a missing lightbulb. The dozen broken parts of the glass lamp were in the draw. There was no shampoo or conditioner. The TV clicker was missing. Only four channels on the TV. There was no room to put or open our suitcases in the room. The rug on the floor was filthy and stained. The sheets even had stains on them. No hangers in the closet that also held an old window AC and a 1950s type fan. Worst of all, it was on the second floor right over a loud noisy bar. And at 10 pm a live band started playing right under our room. The noise was intolerable. Nobody to complain to — since the closet receptionist left at 6 o’clock and the place was closed. Nobody answered the phone either. When we asked to check out a day earlier — they would not refund for that day and they would not put anything in writing guaranteeing we would get our money back for our third day thru the internet. We had poor Internet connection service the Wi-Fi barely worked. We had to take it up with booking.com which Turned out to be very helpful. On a scale of 1 to 5 we give this place a -1. It’s not even worthy of a bad hostile. It does not belong on hotel websites. It is a disgrace and an embarrassment for the great city of Philadelphia. Yes, it is in a good location. But the homeless guy smoking a cigarette at 9 o’clock at night on the front step blocking the door, says it all.…
Greeted with stained carpets, one thin towel, cracked tiles in bathroom, ripped window screen, TV that did not work, broken bedframe, thrift store coverlet and sheets that you could see through, holes in the walls, wires running everywhere, loud street noise...nothing good to say.
This hotel is nothing like the advertised pictures on the booking sites. It should be reported to the health department for fire and code violations not to mention the better business bureau for fraud. There were cockroaches, flies, and what appeared to be rat droppings. Extension chords everywhere. No light bulbs in the bathroom. The whole place smelled the like mold, cigarette smoke, and body sweat. There was no fire escape. The carpets were dirty and there was trash all over the hallway. The wifi didn't work. I was literally afraid to put my stuff on the bed for fear of bedbugs. Do yourself a big huge favor and just book the Wyndham 2 blocks down which is what we ended up doing after less than an hour in the House of Horrors.
Worst room ever! Total dump. The posted room pictures are a total lie. Don’t be fooled. Had to leave because my family was scared to stay. Never got the refund that I was promised. When the hotel was contacted by my booking company they never answered the phone. Total rip off.
I don't like dissing any business, but this hotel is a dangerous firetrap. The entrance is two flights up steep stairs. No elevator, and as far as I could tell, there's no fire escape. The rooms are tiny and dated. I'd rent a car and sleep in the backseat before staying at this hotel.
