Great location center city across from city hall and Macys. Parking available within a block or two, prepay if you can with Spot hero or similar, paid $22 overnight on a Saturday night. Lobby is small and not too grand and as a previous viewer mentioned there are always city characters outside of the corner Dunkin Donuts. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room on the 18th floor had a great view facing city hall. Most rooms should have an excellent view except the ones on the north side that face the Notary Hotel. Many Marriott properties in the center city area. Loved the coziness of the two room suite, like a small city apartment. Enjoyed the black and white décor, worked well for the art deco feel of the building. Cool metal artwork over the bed although I did notice hand prints from a previous guest that would have been standing on the bed in a suggestive position. Shower was appointed nicely although the half glass door does allow a lot of water onto the bathroom floor. Water pressure was good but shower never really got comfortably hot. Convenient to center city, Christmas Market, Macy's and Reading Terminal Market. Easy walk to anywhere in downtown.

The rooms are very nice, and location is excellent. But I don't know what's going on with staff, you don't get room cleaning. Often they don't even pick up your trash. Vague explanations about Covid... Definitely can't recommend.

First off, the staff at this Residence Inn was EXCELLENT. Super helpful, friendly and doing their absolute best to make my stay productive and safe. Covid is a big problem in Philly, so restaurant was closed, meeting spaces closed, and breakfast was grab & go, with coffee served by the front desk. This is an OLD facility but clean. Elevators worked, rooms were well appointed and again very friendly front desk staff, very helpful. Location is literally AT City Center, close to lots of great sights. So...Front door access is strange, as you need a keycard, which is good, but it NEVER worked during my entire stay. The front desk always had to manually let me in. Fine, but strange and certainly would be an inconvenience if the front desk staff is occupied. Homeless situation right outside the front door is a problem. There's a subway stop, bus stop, 7-11 and Dunkin right at this corner, so I'm guessing that's why there's ALWAYS 5-6 homeless folks. That's fine, it's a city. But these guys are WHACKED OUT. Totally out of it, falling over, bumping into walls, screaming, you name it. There's nothing the hotel can do, I get that, but just be aware. Never was confronted or accosted but these dudes were a mess, and there each and every time I entered or left the hotel. Kudos to the staff and hope the area can clean up a bit.

My stay at this hotel wasn’t normal Marriott. Very unorganized for one the sign on the desk 6 to 10 days to get incidental. The most 2 to 3days. I checked on October 24 and still waiting. They charged me for parking I didn’t drive. They also charged my bank card and credit card. No helping the customer. The rooms was beautiful watch out for the shower makes a whole mess 903 . Let’s hope and pray for my $100

I stayed here over the weekend for work and every time I walked into the lobby, the African American man at the front desk had his mask pulled down to his chin. He obviously doesn’t understand how masks work and it is of my opinion that Marriott shouldn’t be employing people who don’t practice Covid safety. I had late check out and my key wasn’t working anymore the afternoon that I was to leave. When I went down to ask the man for a new key, he never once apologized for the inconvenience it caused me. Overall it’s a nice hotel with a view but the employees could use some more customer service and Covid safety training.

Response from Ed Farrington, General Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Center City
Responded 28 Sep 2020
Dear holdenpattern, Thank you for taking the time in letting us know how you're stay was. The hotel team has been using masks since early April 2020 prior to it being mandated for the safety of all in the hotel. Our staff has done a great job in wearing their masks. You might have caught him during a few times when he had the mask lowered. The front desk is also blocked off completely with plexi-glass keeping all at a distance. Unfortunately, your key at all hotels will need to be reprogrammed on your checkout date even with a later checkout. The keys deactivate around checkout time for each hotel. He should have explained that's why the key wasn't working anymore. Our team has worked extremely hard these past 6 months in making sure all our safe when staying at the hotel. We'll continue to do that during this unrepresented time in our lives. Take care and be safe! Thanks EF
