We have been coming to the Alexander Inn before it was "discovered". It is noteworthy because it is a reclamation project of a property that could have easily fallen into urban decay. The narrowness of the building belies its functionality. Location, location, location. In the heart of Philly's gayborhood, a few blocks from South Street at one perimeter and Walnut...

Very welcoming, reception staff always friendly and helpful. My (single) room was not huge but was ideal for me, and the price was good. Could easily walk from here to many of the main Philadelphia sights and there are bars and restauarants close by. Basic Buffet (fruit, biscuits etc) available all day - which was great when I got back...

We had a nice room on the north end of the fourth floor with an intimate view of adjacent rooftops. Located on the edge of beautiful Society Hill, the Alexander Inn is within walking distance of many attractions. Small bathroom but completely adequate. Evidence of mice.

Welcoming and friendly. The room we had was charming, and clean. The price of the parking and room was extreemly reasonable for Philly. Location is tops, and within walking distances of great restaurants.

The Alexander Hotel is conveniently located and an extraordinarily good value. The rooms are very clean and the complimentary continental breakfast is very well done. Joe Mck is exceptionally helpful at the front desk and a real asset to the hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend the Alexander Inn.

A nice little hotel, well located. Rooms are small but clean. Breakfast buffet is pretty standard. Tria just across the street runs good happy hour deals. As long as you don't mind walking a few blocks there is easy access to the subway (or whatever the subway is called in Phila) and the bus routes on S. Broad St.

The Alexander Inn is a quiet, clean and friendly hotel. I stay here frequently as my daughter lives very close to the hotel. The rooms are always clean and neat. The area is safe and the location is great for walking about the city. I have never had a "bad" stay at this city hotel.

The Alexander Inn was great....a beautiful lobby, welcoming staff, excellent continental breakfast, comfortable room, etc. The neighborhood (Washington Square) was mostly gay & has interesting shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel has been tastefully decorated; there is artwork in the hallways & jazz softly playing while you wait for the elevator. The view from our room was of downtown Philly; having...

In October 2011, I planned a six-night trip to the East Coast. Initially planned as a New York City visit with a day trip to Philadelphia, it was eventually changed into an open-jaw itinerary where I would actually fly into Philadelphia first and spend the first two nights there. As I had never overnighted in Philadelphia before, I had to...
