The Alexander Inn was great....a beautiful lobby, welcoming staff, excellent continental breakfast, comfortable room, etc. The neighborhood (Washington Square) was mostly gay & has interesting shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel has been tastefully decorated; there is artwork in the hallways & jazz softly playing while you wait for the elevator. The view from our room was of downtown Philly; having...

In October 2011, I planned a six-night trip to the East Coast. Initially planned as a New York City visit with a day trip to Philadelphia, it was eventually changed into an open-jaw itinerary where I would actually fly into Philadelphia first and spend the first two nights there. As I had never overnighted in Philadelphia before, I had to...

Stayed one night in January based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and although I am rating it very good, would probably look for other accomodations for the next trip to Philadelphia. The good: excellent location. Was able to walk to South Street for cheese steaks, Independence Hall for history, Chestnut St for great meal at Chifa, Rittenhouse Square for shopping...

We stayed at the Alexander Inn for our 2nd time for New Year's weekend and loved it once again. The location is perfect for both walking to all of the gayborhood's bars & restaurants, as well as the historical sites Philadelphia has to offer. The room rates are great and accomodations are nice and comfortable. All of the little things...

If you are into retro architecture and furnishings, and want a reasonably priced hotel in center city, close to excellent restaurants, the theater, etc., this is a fine choice. The rugs and furniture have just recently been replaced, and they've done some painting, so everything looks like new. The equipment in the exercise room, open 7/24, looks new. The staff...

Two reasons for my 3-star review: cleanliness and service. I'm an avid traveler and I have stayed in all sorts of hotels and this has to be one of the less preferable place I've stayed. THE GOOD The location is decent, but it's still several blocks south of the action on Walnut and Chestnut Streets. The hotel is a boutique...

We thank this traveller for choosing the Alexander Inn especially considering the many accommodation options available to today's travellers. We apprectiate and value all considerations given to the Alexander Inn. The guest indicates first, that our televisions are old with grainy quality. Our televisions are all brand new flat-screens installed just one year ago (LG models 26LH200C and 36LH200C). Secondly,...

If you are tired of the "same old" hotel rooms, this is the place for you! Wonderful rehab of a terrific old building provides spotless, bright, beautifully decorated rooms. Although small, through the clever use of space, the rooms are cozy - not cramped. Safe, convenient location. We had a 5 minute walk to two great restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff,...

Recently, my husband was hospitalized at Jefferson University Hospital for over a week- I chose , sight unseen, on-line to stay at the Alexander Inn. The price was right ( affordable AND they gave me a "Jefferson Discount " of an additional 10%.)The rooms were smallish, cozy and beautifully decorated. It's easy to see that everything chosen in the Inn...

This was our first stay in this hotel so we relied pretty much on the reviews we saw online and since this hotel ranked among the top 10 hotels in Philly, we were expecting to have a good experience in here..we got a room with one double bed, our room was of average size and at once the room seemed...
