The Captain Whidbey will be CLOSED starting January 1st 2019 for a property renovation and refresh of up to 3 months. We are happily ACCEPTING ROOM RESERVATIONS for any stay after April 1st. It’s incredible charm, idyllic setting and storied history set it apart from the rest. To this day, Captain Whidbey has done just that. Built in 1907 as the Whid-Isle Inn, Captain Whidbey enjoys a serene and protected forest setting on Penn Cove only 1.5 hours outside of Seattle. Captain Whidbey is just minutes from the destination resort town of Coupeville, and set in the heart of Ebey’s National Historical Reserve on Whidbey Island. For over 110 years, Captain Whidbey has provided intimate lodging, distinct hospitality and quality fare. Its historic lodge is home to Judge Lester Still’s seaside tavern, restaurant and time-stopping guest quarters above. It’s native timbered walls and stone fireplaces provide an irreplaceable sense of warmth & coziness.

This is a lovely quiet hotel with a fantastic restaurant by Coupeville, WA. No TV, which means you will get a quiet peaceful stay. Excellent internet if you have to be connected to the world. Beautiful views.

Decades ago when I was a child my family used to come to the Captain Whidbey, so this was a homecoming for me. The main building was just as I remembered it: cozy and quirky and just a really fun old place. We were disappointed to find out upon arrival that the restaurant

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay Joel, I sincerely apologize that our team did not reach out and alert you to the fact that the restaurant had closed for renovations already, we certainly should have and made attempts to reach out to all guests to make sure they knew ahead of time. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the kitchenette, a handy feature for sure when you are traveling with kids. The rooms are tired, we agree, that's why we are so excited about the renovation and refresh of our guest rooms that we will debut in April. With a new team and refreshed rooms we certainly hope you give us a chance this coming spring, we would appreciate being able to show you a real Captain Whidbey experience.

Our family had a gathering at a home we rented on Madrona Way, not far from the Captain Whidbey Inn, so we used the Captain Whidbey as overflow! It is a lovely property right on Penn Cove, with manicured lawns, pathways, bridges and a lagoon. There is a large gazebo, and it

Thank you Crekelite for your honest feedback, since we took over in May of 2018 we have been working diligently to improve the experience, both in the guest rooms and the restaurant. Some of the changes you mentioned were made with an eye towards a "better presentation, with the goal of improving upon them with our 2019 winter renovation/refresh that's coming in January. We appreciate it and understand that some of our menu offerings did not meet your expectations and will certainly work on that during our renovation as well. We are very happy to hear you slept well!
