The Hotel is closed to everything, we only use the subway and trains in this trips. So close to all the attraction and subways. Restaurants and shopping is so close. We enjoy this trip very much, except both of our flights cancelled due to DUI Pilots. That has nothing to do with the hotel. Thank You,

Construction was very apparent, but didn't ever wake us up. Incredibly dark room and lobby. Could barely see to do makeup and get ready. A few things in our room was broken and it took three trips down the the lobby and 30 minutes to get anyone to come up to our room to fix them.

An older hotel presently being upgraded and refreshed. Great rooms...sheets, towels and bathroom amenities all premium quality. Amazing shower, free wifi that worked like a charm. No restaurant but location is perfect....near many dining and coffee establishments. Friendly and efficient staff. NoMad location...lots of public transportation nearby. Nice vibrations....even though common areas are not completely renovated. My home away from...

This hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The room was small but not as small as some of the hotels you find in NYC. My room had a King sized bed and lounge chair. There was a bathroom in the room which is also a plus for NYC and the bathroom toiletries were very nice. The bed was comfortable and...

Stay away - stay far away. This is perhaps the worst hotel for the money in NYC. Incompetent staff, inoperable elevators, a lobby akin to something out of a Lewis Hine photo-essay about tenements circa 1890s NY. Shame on this company for allowing this place to fall so far from grace.

We normally stay at a different hotel in the city but as its nightly rate tripled we decided to give The Evelyn a try. We got a great rate and quite expected a less than stellar place, quite frankly. We've been going to the city for many years and in fact my husband lived there for 10+ years so we...

The Evelyn makes a bad impression when you arrive since the facade is under construction and it appears to be a dumpster covered by a tarp. Unfortunately, this set the tone for the rest of my stay, which was extremely unpleasant. There were some minor inconveniences, like a lack of toilet paper in my room and an incompetent front desk...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Evelyn formerly The Gershwin Hotel is now offering newly residential inspired rooms with references to an Art Nouveau Style. Our NoMad hotel is inspired by the musical and art heritage of the neighborhood, which was the epicenter of the popular music industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The music theme is reflected throughout the rooms, corridors and bathrooms. The NoMad District (now also known as "NoMad" - North of Madison Square Park) is now one of Manhattan's most popular neighborhoods, characterized by its beautiful and historic architecture, exceptional bars and restaurants tucked away on quiet side streets, and many other attractions. Centered around Madison Square Park, the NoMad District is within walking distance of Midtown, Union Square, Greenwich Village, and NYU. ... more   less
