I considered changing my reservation after reading some recent reviews of the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. I am very happy I did not stay elsewhere. As an Honors member I was able to choose my room through the Hilton app. When I arrived, well before the check-in time, the room I chose was not ready but the desk clerk found a comparable room that was available, so I was able to check in early and get settled in my room. Room 620 overlooked 8th Avenue. There was scaffolding outside my window and across the entire front of the hotel. It was, however, still possible to see outside. There was no construction noise nor workers on the scaffolding during my stay (Thursday-Sunday). The king room was very comfortable with a mini fridge and microwave, and windows that opened. The bathroom was small but had great water pressure in the shower. My only concerns were very minor - the lighting in the room was not the best and the key cards often did not work. All hotel staff - front desk, security, bell desk, and housekeeping were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was convenient to theaters, restaurants, and subway stops. I would not hesitate to stay here on a future NYC trip.…
I've stayed at this hotel for 10+ years when visiting NY City. The location is fabulous, with a gourmet market next door and plenty of fast-arriving ride-hail cars. What really makes the hotel so special are the front-desk staff. They always recognize me, and take care of any requests promptly. These very nice people are like family, and the fact that it's the same staffing year after year tells me hotel management takes good care of its staff and they are happy to work there. Hopefully, new visitors to the hotel will meet Stanley at the front desk - he is king of good service. He really knows his guests and takes care of them as he would his family. A truly remarkable and wonderful person. My favorite room in the hotel is the corner king with queen bed sleeper couch. The room is large for a NY City hotel, and the views of the city life are always entertaining. The windows open, too. Convenient microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Housekeeping staff is cheerful and greets everybody. The hotel is not large by NY standards, but has a comfortable feel to it by not being too big. I'm glad the hotel has finally reopened after the pandemic caused so many hotel closures . Some changes have been made with room amenities, but this is common now throughout the Hilton chain due to the pandemic. If you really need a pen and note paper, for instance, bring your own - you won't find them in the room currently. My room definitely needed another lamp, which was eventually delivered when I requested it. There is one bar of soap for both shower and sink, not the usual two bars per room. The few items I needed in the room, such as extra towels, were brought by housekeeping upon request. The hotel is still a bit short on staff as the pandemic continues, so patience is good to have when requesting things. The hotel is being gently loved to death by its loyal customers, and I hope it will enjoy a renovation in the future. However, it's clean, all the basics are there, and the slightly dated furnishings and dark colors are a minor detail. The fabulous staff more than makes up for how the hotel interior appears now. I always feel protected at this hotel - the lobby bell staff and desk staff know their customers and make sure they are well looked after and safe, especially if one is traveling alone and going out for an event. I feel like a princess when I stay here!…
Very spacious, for New York, clean room, and good service. You can’t be the location of this hotel, when seeing the theater. The only issue was the TV wasn’t working properly, but that was resolved quickly. Kerridon at the front desk was very helpful!
We stayed here because of it's proximity to The Winter Garden theater. It was very convenient. The staff was helpful and pleasant and the facilities were clean. The beds were surprising comfortable and the room was very dark. The view is obstructed because of construction on the building.
I’ve stayed at this hotel on 2 separate occasions and never had an issue. I booked it for 5 business associates who were travelling. Sometimes it gets discounted when I’m looking as the prices can greatly vary. I was here for 2 nights and had a great stay. The facade is covered with scaffolding, but don’t let that put you off. There was no noice or interference at any point. Located on 8th avenue, Times Square and the theatres are close by but without feeling as though they are on your doorstep. A block over and you can escape the crowds in Hell’s Kitchen for a great choice of restaurants and bars. Rooms are spacious for Manhattan and were perfectly clean. All amenities that you need are provided. There is a shop in the lobby and a cafe which I didn’t use as the prices are ridiculous. It does miss having a bar and/or restaurant attached as there is no social point, especially if you are travelling or dining alone, but that’s a small gripe. I hope that I am able to book again sometime soon.…
Great hotel that was clean and very friendly staff. Located right in the heart of the Garment District, this was perfect for my business trip. Price was inexpensive as well. I will surely be staying here again when travel calls for it.
Loved the hotel! Staff were incredibly friendly! The receptionist checked me in sooner than check in time. He was incredibly helpful throughout my entire stay. The room was clean and comfy. Location is great, close to many subway stations and walking distance to many places. Overall a great stay.
The customer service at this hotel is literally the worst and the hotel is not worth the money. We arrived in town late and checked in to the hotel. We are a party of 6 with 2 rooms. My daughters and I walked into our second floor room and we were literally hit in the face with blasting heat. It took our breath away. When I checked the thermostat it was set on 90 and would not turn down. I tried the AC and it blasted heat as well. I walked to the front desk and explained our situation. I was literally laughed at by the front desk clerk, Kevin. He informed the there was nothing they could do and to just turn the unit off and hope it cooled down……Thanks Kevin! I get that it’s late and the hotel is booked solid, but his demeanor and overall lack of customer service skills really took the cake. Here we sit at 2:00 in the morning with our windows open and thankful for the brisk January air. Also might I mention the view. We have a second floor room with a view of scaffolding. It’s lovely….. …
I have stayed here a few times and this time recommended it to friends as well. This time was the absolute worst. My room would not cool below 77 degrees. It took three stops at the front desk and two calls to receive ANY explanation: the chiller could not work due to frozen equipment on the roof. It would have been nice to know that right away. While the temperature outside was single digits, the only way to attempt to get sleep st night was to open the window - which faced scaffolding and the scaffolding was a walking section where if the window is open someone on the scaffolding could enter the room. An impossible situation! Hilton should have moved me to another room, but did not offer. They should have confessed right away why I could not cool the room, but they did not. I did not sleep for several days. My friends had a room on the other side of the hall and were perfectly comfortable! Not the display of great customer service or the way to treat a loyalty member.…
This hotel has no compassion. We received false information over the phone. Could NOT reach the actual hotel, just kept getting Hilton phone operators. We spent more than $1200 on TWO nights here. They won’t let us cancel our reservation so now we’re trapped in this lack luster plain hotel room we paid extreme prices for, after being assured a month ago on the phone that we’d have a view of the ball drop. We are heart broken, and just want to catch the earliest train home. However, after spending a whole paycheck to be here, that would be equally heartbreaking. If they’re so sold out, why couldn’t they just let us cancel after hearing our situation? Someone would have absolutely taken the room. Instead they have two very depressed guests feeling trapped in their hotel over the new year. What’s the point in that? Money money money, that’s all they care about. Oh, I’ve been offered a time share twice today in my attempts to get compassion. Thank you Hilton. (Oh by the way the pillows are yellow and dingy).…
