I am a New Yorker, and wanted to share Christmas in the city with my husband. The Wellington has some mixed reviews - but being a New Yorker I can say this should be considered a FIND! Yes it is older, yes the rooms are small, and yes the elevator is slow during certain times - BUT the location will...

Nice place to stay. Prices a little too high, even considering this is the last week of he year. The hotel is one of the few that still charges for wireless internet and its expensive. Great location, near good restaurants and the theater district and central park. Needs a larger dinner. Lobby sometimes way too crowded.

Location is close to Central Park and Fifth Avenue shopping. Hotel decor is older but suites are spacious and comfortable. Good value for the money.

We visited the wellington hotel on Dec 21, 22 2011. Close to everything. Timesquare, CBS, NBC, Central Park, Rockefeller center and 5th avenue. Overall of you are looking for a average place in a great part of town this is your hotel. Couple minor issues; elevators, hot water spikes, heating off and on, reception was always busy overall would come...

By the reviews on here I was going with low expectations of the Wellington to begin with in regards to decor, and room standard. However, I was nicely surprised. The receptionist wasn't that friendly, however, on getting our room, it was small, but the decor was nice, (It was like it was an extravagant hotel in the 80's) all gold...

Me and my mum stayed in the Wellington for some pre Christmas shopping. Was a bit worried because of negative reviews but we were delighted with our choice. So close and accessible to everywhere we wanted to go. Easy to go for walk around the city at night and bring back shopping during the day. Rooms are small and not...

Considering the rates you have in NYC this is definitively cheap! I have checked the rates in different periods of the year and they are always unbeatable. The position is very good, not far from the tube, between Central Park and Times Square. If you consider that in NYC you can easily walk for miles without realising it, the position...

We booked two rooms for me and husband and two kids (16&20) from 15th dec. Asked for twin room for the kids in advance and was advised $20 extra per night but when checked in was told no charge as had enough twins. Bonus! Given two rooms on 21st floor opposite each other which were clean and tidy. Views of...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
