Stayed for 2 nights on business. Agree with other reviewers in that the public areas are fabulous (as are the conference rooms I saw). Negatives - the hotel rooms needs an udpate (I was in the older section). The room was tired, the shower head felt and looked like it was about to fall off and the water took an...

Your every desire is anticipated - well almost every one, at the Waldorf Astoria. Check-in is slow - they are always short staffed. It is not a good way to begin a hotel stay. it is an old classic hotel, that is showing it's age. Some areas of the guest room showed wear, were in need of paint, and the...

We were not happy with our first room which was noisy being alongside the liftshaft. Reception could not have been more helpful and understanding, and moved us to a very pleasant room much higher in the tower. The public areas are stunning original 1930's art deco. Look out for the clock in the centre of reception area, and the marble...

A New York Classic with a great Mid-Town location, this hotel offers large rooms that are quiet (well insulated from street noise). I will highlight 2 short-comings in the beginning of the review, as that is where I find the value in reading other traveler's reviews. One, the front desk is chronically understaffed. For any transaction (check-in, check-out, have a...

Public rooms are fabulous - but our room (988) had no view at all. The whole room was tired and I am sure that the rust and mould on the grille over the bath were just a courtesy extra. Be aware that the hotel's policy means that they reserve the right to charge you corkage if you take yr own...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
