I attend an annual conference in NYC hosted at the Waldorf. Each time I wonder why I stay there. The service is atrocious. Perhaps better said there is no service. The wifi that we paid for rarely worked and when it did it was slow as molasses. This is far cry from a 5 star hotel. The bellmen run their...

this hotel really is the grand old lady of new York hotels, but for her age ,she still looks mighty fine. yes the rooms could do with a touch of paint, but they are spotlessly clean and well furnished, with furniture in keeping with the rest of the hotel. the bed itself is the most comfortable I have ever slept in,with a mattress...

I have stayed here the last two years and think I will definitely continue to use it as my New York choice. Here's why: Location: It's right in midtown and within striking distance of many of my favourite restaurants, sights etc. You could throw a stone and hit The Four Seasons Restaurant, for example. And it's near other favourites like...

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for 5 days following Thanksgiving 2014. Reason we stayed there is that friends we travel with are smokers and the hotel has smoking rooms ( a plus for smokers.) This a grand OLD hotel, no getting away from the fact that it is older. Bathroom was tiny and obviously redone to fit in the...

Stayed here for only one night for a quick trip to treat myself to the Christmas decorations in the store windows, etc. The hotel however, was the best part of my trip. Better off at a Hilton or a boutique hotel. I was shocked at how disorganized and mismanaged this hotel was. It was likely a unique experience, but one I feel should be shared. Beautiful-but-aging styling, and a bit-out-of-the-way location, but my prediction is a strong downturn in popularity over the next three decades.

Conference rooms cold. Steakhouse on site. Had limited menu for meeting but fish and steak...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
