I really enjoyed the weekend that I spent here. The staff is certainly the highlight. From the doormen, to the front desk staff, the bartenders, etc, everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The gentleman that showed me to my room went through everything in the room with me-showed me where everything was, how to control the temperature, etc. The room...

Just one night here to start our 10 day NY holiday. Good location in an expensive area, but our room was really quite dated and not very large. (408). Not sure how this could be called 5 star. Staff pleasant and polite. Lobby being renovated.

Stay here occasionally, and the service and location is outstanding. Ask for the newer, updated rooms if available. The food is great and the bar is very elegant. Madison and 5th avenue shopping is a short walk, plus tons of great restaurants within walking distance.

One has many choices in New York to stay and as part of LHW Unlimited there are 4 or 5 options. Stayed here for a weekend prior to going overseas to Africa and Paris. Great value for the money. Upgraded to suite with a large tiring area and balcony along with a sun room. Service impeccable. Had breakfast in the...

First time using this lovely hotel but not my last. Small hotel with excellent rooms and service. Unfurtenatelly, restaurant was closed so we took a chance to eat at the bar. Not worth it, food was mediocre at best except the French fries. Rooms were clean and spacious with plenty of amenities. Concierge and front desk people were friendly. A...

We chose this hotel because we needed to be uptown - we typically stay around midtown so this was a first. The Upper East Side feels like a very different place: quieter, older, richer ...all the stereotypes were true. This hotel worked out really well for us because (as other reviewers said) we could get a suite plus adjoining room...

The Hotel is located on a quiet street within walking distance to Central Park and Shopping. We were traveling with a group of five and needed separate sleeping areas. As a result it was more cost effective to combine a suite with an adjoining room that had two beds. The suite was huge with a formal living room, dining room,...

Second visit to the Plaza Athene'e and not at all disappointed. As a member of LHW Unlimited Loyalty club upgraded to an incredible suite with a solarium and balcony. Wow. Should host a party the room is so large and beautiful. Just had coffee on the solarium overlooking the UES. Love the intimacy of this place.

Perfect sanctuary from the chaos near Trump Tower! Was able to walk down Park to the low 50s and miss the madness. Quiet, charming, amazing staff. The rooms are $900 night but I went on Hotels.com and got a 1/2 price which was amazing. Near the best shopping and great restaurants that are home to the well heeled UES'rs.

Spent three nights recently. Overall a very nice experience. We had a one room suite with adjoining room. Lots of space in the living area and bedroom; adjoining room with two beds was pretty tight, but nicely appointed. Bathrooms were very nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. Light on amenities, e.g. no bottled water or chocolates, but nice turndown service...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
