Upper east side's gem. Our favorite staycation and afternoon tea destination. My daughter's favorite place to be. Once you walk into the lobby, you feel so special. From the door to the Pembroke room, they called us by name. The beds are heavenly, difficult to wake up from... Wood burning fireplace is something we truly enjoyed. On our first stay,...

If you're looking for a quiet, secret (great place for an assignation, I'm told) little spot for high tea, this could be just the spot for you. It's not inexpensive, by high tea standards, but it was a very generous amount of food and the savory sandwiches are some of the best I've had.

Dear KatieMargaret, Thank you very much for sharing with us and fellow tea connoisseurs your impressions of high tea at The Lowell. Many patrons, both hotel guests and locals, have enjoyed coming here for years to sample our tea offerings. As you noted, The Pembroke Room, remains a well-kept secret to many. But to those who appreciate the finer things...

First of all, the location of the Hotel speaks a lot for itself. The iconic Upper East Side is chic and classic. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a very attentive receptionist who was extremely nice. Not to mention this cozy atmosphere at the lobby and the scent of chocolate. It makes you so warm after the rainy day...

Prepaid for my reservation on orbitz. Upon arriving at the hotel, was told that there was no longer a room available for me. They gave two different stories: the first was that someone who had stayed the night before in the hotel was sick and was unable to check out. Someone else said that someone in the hotel hadnt returned...

NO coventioneers need apply ! Quiet, distinguished, personal polished service. Pre theater dinner served in a cozy delightful dining room. Wonderfukl breakfast in the same room or outstanding room service. Discreet, also many wood burning fireplaces, may well be the only hotel in New York with that feature. Absolutely delightful, restful island in Manhattan

Dear michaelRehwaldt, Thank you so much for your kind depiction of The Lowell! We strive to be that “island” (to borrow your lovely term) of respite on an island that is always busy and full of movement and noise. And the fireplaces are a warming touch as the New York winter is on the way. We hope to welcome you...

Stayed here to attend a funeral in NYC. The hotel room is fine, but compared to the pricing of other hotels in NYC it is incredibly overpriced for what one gets. The suite was small, the price extraordinarily high, the service eh. The best service people at the hotel were housekeeping and the bell staff, they were excellent. I did...

Dear AsISeeIt37, I am so sorry, first of all, for the fact that the reason for this trip was a funeral. And to make the trip worse, you had such disappointing experiences during your stay. It is inexcusable that we did not have your breakfast ready for you on time before your departure from the hotel, and that some in...

If you want a room with a view this is probably not the best choice. Rooms Are nice but small. They are nicely furnished and maid service is exceptional. Restaurant is really small & tables do not offer privacy. Front desk is nice & courteous. are nice but small & ceiling height is low.

Have stayed at The Lowell on 2 prior occasions with excellent service . Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
