There are a lot of five star hotels that have perfect rooms. What sets the Lowell apart are the employees. All of the staff make us feel like family. They always go above and beyond to make our stay relaxing and perfect. It is the little things that matter and this is where they shine. New York City is crazy this time of year. The Lowell provides an oasis of quiet luxury

I had the privilege of staying at The Lowell Hotel for ten days over the Thanksgiving holiday, and from the moment I arrived at the hotel my experience was nothing short of amazing. Upon arrival, I was accommodated with a glass of wine while I waited for my room to be ready, during that time I was able to have a look around at the historical layout that is the Lowell. Every detail I came across was immaculate to the eye, when I finally made it to my room I was blown away at how upscale and beautiful everything was. Each staff member I came into contact with provided service that went above and beyond any expectations I had. They provide everything you want and assist you with anything you might need help with. This is a hotel you need to stay at while visiting New York City, it is comfortably located in the Upper East Side and is surprisingly very quiet. You are just a few blocks away from shops, Central Park, and amazing food. I HIGHLY recommend you stay at the Lowell for your home away from home while on vacation, or business trips.

We spent 4 nights in a Deluxe Junior Suite at the Lowell. The room was "as advertised", with wood floors and a small terrace. It is in a great location on E. 63rd just a couple of blocks from Central Park.
The staff was very good and friendly, and unlike some other recent trips, the housekeeping was done daily.
The room also has a small kitchen with a refrigerator and hotplate which came in very handy for leftovers!
Only complaint was that the room did not come with a coffee maker! We requested a Nespresso machine (which they have on request), but they said they were out and would send up a percolator. It never came. So we requested a Nespresso machine the next day and it was delivered (but it didn't work, so they sent another).
The room also included breakfast which was very good.

An unpleasant experience.
Physically, the ambience is cramped.
We had requested, through Amex Platinum Travel, far in advance, a junior suite on the highest floor possible. Nevertheless, upon arrival, tired from a long flight, we were immediately hustled to a grim room unworthy of Rikers. No visible sky, windows facing only claustrophobic walls. Horrible. We politely let the front desk know how upset and disappointed we felt. We had heard nice things about the Lowell and had been looking forward to our stay.
Naturally, we spent more money for a euphemistically called “classic suite”, still barely acceptable accommodations. A guest relations person graciously offered to send us a fruit basket, which, alas, after our 3 night stay, never arrived. Despite assurances that she would “look after us” and be “available,” we never saw her again.
The checkout experience with Eric at the front desk, was reminiscent of a strict boarding school: Barbara and I were treated to a chastising , threatening lecture on how to treat front desk staff! Ironically, 2 hotel workers confidentially volunteered to us that THEY had difficulties getting along with certain front desk staff! However, the maids, waiters, etc were very competent and nice.
Finally, and I hope you’re reading this, Amex Platinum: front desk clerk Eric concluded his lecture by advising us to first contact the Lowell directly in the future to secure our room preferences, as their regular guests do. Does this not suggest an end run around Amex Platinum? And that reserving through Amex Platinum directly guarantees only the dregs?

We have made this hotel our "go to" spot for several years. While it is uber expensive, getting the bill at the end of the trip never quite feels like you've been zinged. The furnishings are exquisite, the staff is super friendly and professional, and the location is great. The hotel was re-emerging from lockdown when we visited in late June, and did not have all of the amenities available. We ordered food from the restaurant next door and the bell staff brought it to us, but we were happy with the limited offerings. The hotel accommodated our friends joining us in the library, and we had drinks in a very quiet setting, which is fantastic. I would bypass the concierge for dining - we've had repeated disappointments that were never addressed, and I've generally fared better by doing my own research for reservations and restaurant ratings. Overall, the hotel has not lost it's sparkle and we still love it.

Wow. What an incredible experience. Very similar to the feeling of staying in a boutique hotel in Paris. Their attention to detail, quality of food and drinks and level of customer service was impressive and refreshing. Room was large, immaculate and so comfortable. Location perfect - close to everything I needed.
Not cheap - in fact more expensive than I thought but.... overall worth it.

We stayed in this beautifully decorated hotel for two nights. While the room was rather small the bathroom facilities and comfort were exceptional. We were disappointed that there was no coffee machine in the bedroom, only sachets of coffee granules and no fresh milk. We found the breakfast service to be slow and inefficient and the breakfast itself of only average quality. The Majorelle restaurant and adjacent bar were excellent but rather overpriced, even for a 5.star hotel. In terms of service, we fellt that the hotel fell short of other 5 star hotels we have stayed in. While the front desk staff were polite and generally efficient we felt that for 1300 dollars a night, other services which we paid for, such as tea in the lounge, charged at 40 dollars for 2, could have been complimentary. We did not receive the bill as requested by email and had to ring three times to find someone who could deal with this after being transferred twice to an answer machine. All in all we did not find the service as welcoming and caring as one would expect from this level of hotel.

How do I say thank you to the Lowell Hotel and all those wonderful people who work there! To Paul, the director of reservations, who had white roses, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting in our suite, we cannot thank you enough. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which was stunning with a wood burning fireplace, kept stocked by the helpful Armand, who saw to everything we needed, and two outdoor terraces. The suite was way beyond our expectations and felt more like the pied de terre of a fabulously rich interior designer than a hotel room. Thank you also to Christina and Anthony at the front desk who greeted us so warmly. My husband and I had the best 25th anniversary at the Lowell and we can't wait to return!! For anyone celebrating a special occasion, this truly is the only place to stay!

My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Lowell Hotel in NYC! Our experience at the hotel has been truly exceptional. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is the second stay for us there. The staff at the Lowell Hotel always goes above and beyond to make us feel like a VIPs, and they made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the beautifully decorated rooms was very impressive, creating a cozy and luxurious ambiance for us to relax and unwind. And let’s not forget about the prime location of the hotel, that has allowed us to easily explore the vibrant city of New York. We were left with wonderful memories we have made during our stay. We will always stay there from now on.

We just enjoyed another wonderful week at The Lowell. It remains one of the best hotels in the U.S. From the welcome at the front door, to the housekeeping staff, each member of the team makes us feel like VIP guests. They remember us by name, and never forget to follow up on the simplest of requests. The rooms are quiet and beautifully decorated. The entire staff is dedicated to making our stay perfect. It's why we regard the Lowell as our New York home away from home, and why we keep returning.

I have never heard of Grubhub
I know that certain rooms (likely suites) have terraces and those might have a partial or diagonal park view. If you are specifically interested in a Central Park View, I might recommend The Pierre, The Carlyle, or the Four Seasons which have rooms with better views. The Ritz Carlton also has great views from Central Park South.
Hi! I'm sorry but I'm not sure how close the grocery store is to the hotel. Call the hotel. Cheers!
I'm not sure- but contact the hotel, they are very helpful. Ours was very apartment like with a bedroom, bath, kitchen and living room, for just 2 people. The sofa could have been a pull out, just not sure about that.
Dear Ben J,
Thank you for your inquiry. We have 14 rooms across different room categories that have terraces. Many of our Deluxe Junior Suites and Lowell One and Two Bedroom Suite Deluxe have terraces. In our Specialty Suites; the Manhattan, the Garden, the Lowell and of course our gorgeous two bedroom Penthouse. We also have one Lowell King room on the Penthouse level that has a terrace.
Please contact me directly should you want me to check availability.
Best wishes,
Sarah Bolton
