What a great find on the Upper East Side of New York! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable - especially Xoshera, who was both courteous and an amazing barista! If you have business at Gracie Mansion or need a place to stay close to friends or family on the UES, look no further! Rooms are New York small but have all the space you need. Impeccably clean and a 12 noon check out!
Stayed here in October. We had the upgraded king room. Small but not uncomfortably tiny. Definitely not dusty like a recent review. I was impressed with the cleanliness. Spotless room everyday. We faced front on the 8th floor. Typical NYC noise shouldn't be a surprise. No annoying noise within the hotel. Decent size bathroom that didn't have the sink out in the bedroom. Great showerhead. Front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. Great location as our family is nearby. I definitely recommend springing for this luxury king room.
The room is tiny and very dusty, my poor cat was covered in dust at all times and wheezing. The room didn't even have a full bathroom. It was a cramped half tub and toilet with a sink next to the bed. The bed squeaks really badly, i thought it was going to break every time i moved and i'm not even fat. Doors are extremely loud and slamming at all hours of day and night, the AC makes terrible noise even when it's off, the TV is too big for the room and positioned wrong, the shower is leaky, i have a table right outside my window so can't open the blinds and have to suffer people's conversations, you can hear the subway on the 1st floor.. this place is an absolute nightmare. I have 1 more night to stay here before I can go home and I honestly don't know how I can do it. This place is a dump!…
Maybe I'm just a sucker for restoration done well, but our visit to the Franklin was pleasing aesthetically and experientially. Front staff were kind and eager to greet us with delicious chocolate cookies and the lift (elevator) is to die for! Can I take up residence in the lift?! The room was perfectly sized and a spacious toilet room for NYC. Very comfortable bed, quiet room, and easy peasy walk to Central Park or the subway. Tons of food options nearby. It was just the "pick" me up we were looking for that weekend.
the Franklin is in a great location and has a friendly helpful staff. It's a 20-30 min walk to Central Park and there are plenty of food, attractions, and shopping close by. the outdoor patio is a great place to have your coffee in the morning.
My parents had to extend their stay for some unforeseen reason and Jasmine at the front desk was extremely helpful and patient with all our rebooking needs, which we really appreciate. All the staff members at the hotel were friendly and the rooms are clean. Great location with access to Central Park, the Museum Mile, Whole Foods supermarket and restaurants. Yes, the rooms are small but you will get the kind of hospitality that you won't get from other hotels in the city.
My stay started off with a very early check in. They didn't have any problem giving me a room at 11:30 AM on the 9th floor. YMMV based on occupancy of course. The woman at the front desk was working a very long shift. When I saw her again at 10 PM she said she was working until 7 AM the next day. Bonkers. I paid for a superior room which was just the right size for a solo traveler with bags from a long trip. I appreciated the eco friendly touches like the plant based shampoo and soap. I do wish they had actual coffee cups in the lobby though. It also sounds like they're on their way to eliminating the dreadful plastic water bottles in the rooms. Karens, you've been warned. I picked the Franklin based on the short walking distance to the Met as well as the subway. The property is one block from the 4-5-6 trains and a 10 minute walk from the Met. My room faced 87th Street but the noise was minimal. I did have the usual problems with loud housekeeping conversations in the hallway though. I wish they'd have a wine and cheese happy hour in the afternoons. The climate controlled and outdoor patios don't get much use. Will stay again.…
My third stay at this Upper East side gem….. The new garden area is a wonderful addition. We had an impromptu party in the garden with our own food and wine. The manager and staff continue to be welcoming, friendly, and helpful on all occasions.
We had read other reviews so chose the Franklin intentionally. The location is perfect for walking the upper east side where we were visiting family. We expected that the room size would be small, so we were pleased that the king-size-bed room was very comfortable with large sunny windows. The room was clean and very quiet - sounds do not travel between walls. Also, we had asked for a room at a high level to reduce noise, and indeed we were not bothered by street sounds. The woman who checked us in was attentive and helpful, as was the man who was at the desk later in the evening. Unfortunately, people were smoking in a room down the hall so the smoke wafted into our room. The desk person said they don't allow smoking. But we said, there is smoke!! I have a serious allergy to smoke so asked them to please investigate. She contacted the manager and offered to ozone our room. The manager was responsive, and it was not the hotel's fault that someone violated the policy; perhaps the policy could be posted visibly near check in (both in-person and on-line) to ensure that guests know the consequences (they would be fined).…
A hidden gem on the Upper East side! Very friendly & welcoming staff, charming updated rooms and awesome location near Central Park & Met. We loved being on a relatively quiet residential street. We had read reviews about the rooms being small and they are quite small but we were able to make our bags/luggage work. The good news is if you are doing a trip to NYC right, you aren’t in your room except to sleep at night! We were gone all day most days walking around the city. The rooms have been very nicely updated with great finishes while keeping the old history. charm. The beds are very comfortable too. We stayed 5 nights & enjoyed our stay at this hotel immensely! We hated to leave but are looking forward to our next visit at the Frankin! Tips: 1) pack on the light side- there is ample space for hanging clothes but avoid large suitcases if you can as floor space is limited. 2) if you drive a large oversized vehicle, be aware that the adjacent parking garage might not be able to accommodate. We drove our Dodge Ram truck and it was too long for their elevator so we had to park about 1 1/2 blocks away (but that garage was very accommodating .) Otherwise, the adjacent garage is super nice and really convenient! 3) make sure to enjoy a breakfast/lunch at the Bocado Cafe on the corner of Lexington and 87th. Delicious food and great service. We ate 2 lunches there and were very pleased- super convenient too! 4) Starbucks and Whole Foods are just down the street as well The hotel staff was FABULOUS! We were greeted so warmly at check in and treated to delicious cookies & water bottles. The staff goes out of their way to treat you like family during your stay and were so accommodating to our every need. Can’t say enough good things about our stay. It’s a unique property with so many positives! We will definitely be lifelong Franklin Hotel patrons bc we love this part of the city and the charm of this wonderful property!…
