When I go to NY and want to be close to my office, I choose this place because of its unassuming elegance. The lobby's fame is notorious - see their website or any menu. The rooms have been remodeled recently and the comfort was almost "heavenly bed-like" :) Don't miss out on the Blue Bar either. Great for after work...

Hotel wasn't bad but somehow expected an"autograph " Hotel to be more polished. A lot of the public areas look somewhat tired. The room was ok if a little pokey. Staff were very friendly and helpful though and the location is excellently

Awesome hotel with amazing staff! Two thumbs up to Edwin at the front desk with a very warm welcome. Cute bar in hotel and rooms have everything you need and are very clean. Housekeeping was not intrusive and room was refreshed daily. Very close to many attractions in NYC. Also you can check out an umbrella if it starts to...

A nice stay at an historic hotel! Rooms are not big but they are comfortable and the service is very good with the sole exception of the reception as they are not too helpful. Price is a bit high but... it is a real New York place!

I have stayed here a few times before and mostly because of where I am working in the city that week. There are pluses and minus to this hotel. Yes, the rooms are small and even for NYC, they are on the smaller side. There is no longer room service AND no coffee maker in the room. So for the...

I'm writing another review of this iconic hotel bar, as my previous one has apparently vanished. Sitting in the dark panelled bar, sipping a mango cocktail, mulling over the ghosts of guests past, (Gertrude Stein, Dorothy Parker, Ernest Hemingway, James Dean et al), was truly magic. The bar became rather a haunt of ours before evenings out. Marvellous place, with...

The famous Algonquin Round Table is why I wanted to stay here. The lobby is small but very evocative of the time that made this hotel famous. The rooms are TINY and the bathroom is quite possibly the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. The maintenance hasn't been kept up - moldings were rotting away at the base. The restaurant only...

Clean and comfortable, but rooms on the smaller side. Not unusual for NYC, but be prepared especially if you don't stay in a lot of NYC hotels. Breakfast was nice - the bagel was actually a real NY bagel!

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel. Having grown up in my own literary world and reading all about the Algonquin Round Table (think Dorothy Parker) that used to meet here, I had to pinch myself regularly just to believe that I was really there. And while basking in the magic of the history each evening, I had...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
