First, I believe that the differences in ratings for this hotel have to do with expectations: No, this is not a new, glass & steel modern hotel, but an elegant dowager holding her age -- and history -- very well. It's easy to pass it by and not even notice that it's a hotel -- it's very narrow and not...

I had an overnight stay at the Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection, which was a pleasant one at the oldest continuously operated hotel in New York City. I really enjoyed my check-in experience. Eddie, the bellhop, accompanied me to my room with interesting facts and figures about the hotel and its eccentric guests over the years. He stayed and...

My husband and I took our daughter and her family to NYC for Christmas. We love the Algonquin Hotel. The staff is wonderful, especially Edwin at the front desk. There is a warm friendly feeling about this hotel. The room are small but comfortable, and the location is perfect. We hope to return again soon.

This claims to be the longest continually run hotel in NYC and it didn't disappoint. Service was professional and ever present. The room was OK sized for NY, nicely appointed, and with architectural detail. Sleep quality was good with no external noise.

We spent this past weekend in NYC with three other couples. Our high school children were all involved in a school trip and we decided to take advantage. It was mine and my husbands Christmas gift to each other- show tickets, dinner and hotel. We chose the Algonquin after reading about its history being the oldest operating hotel in the...

This was our 3rd trip to New York for New Years Eve. We always stay at a different hotel so that we can enjoy a different experience each time. This trip we chose the Algonquin for its rich history and for its location. First, about the location....it's perfect! The Algonquin, or the "Gonk" as it's known locally, is situated just...

I love the history and the location of the Algonquin Hotel and it's a favorite NYC hotel. I just returned from my 4th year staying the week just prior to Christmas. The lobby is just as lovely as always, however, this year the hotel seemed very tired. There was a broken elevator meaning just one working elevator for all 12...

We visited four nights at the Algonquin and it was great!. Staff is excellent; rooms are very good, Location is close to Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, Theaters. Great place to stay. Only thing I would change is the tiny bathroom. I would definitely stay there again though!

This is the third year we have stayed at the Algonquin in December or January. We love the location and being able to walk home from an evening Broadway show. The historic ambience is wonderful Our suite has always been clean and well appointed. Two changes this year were disappointing. They have removed in-room coffee makers. Also, they have begun...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
