First of all, the location of this hotel is great. It is about a 3-4 block walk from the SW corner of Central Park & Columbus Circle. You can catch a train or a bus anywhere from there. Secondly, the hotel IS kind of old, but has been mostly redone on all floors. The rooms are pretty decent sized, amenities...

We stayed here for the Thanksgiving day parade in 2012. We decided last minute to go to the parade and were surprised to find such a decent hotel at a reasonable price for NY city that late. The location is close to the parade route and many restaurants around to eat but they also have a restaurant in the hotel....

My wife, adult daughter and I planned an overnight trip to New York to take in a couple of shows and a ball game. After we made the commitment and bought the tickets, I found that hotel rates were astronomically high everywhere in Manhattan (and by that I mean $400 to $600 (plus tax) per night in most places and...

Old hotel but large rooms, quiet rooms, plants of space to sit in foyer or bar, pool was lovely place to sit and read with umbrellas and tables and day lounges. Sub way was just up the street so very easy to get around, could walk to Starbucks for oats and coffee for breakfast. Times Square was a nearby walk...

I only gave this one star because it was the lowest rating I could give. It doesn't deserve even one star. My first trip to America. Travelled all the way from Australia with a girlfriend. Stayed at the Holiday inn at San Fran that was good enough nothing to complain about. This hotel however was old, dirty, and the room...

Hotel is getting a badly needed facelift. North Tower not yet done and is a tad dingy. North Tower elevator bank ususally had only one elevator working. Was told by another guest South Tower is better. Room had mildewy smell, BUT was very clean. Front Desk Staff, Bell and Concierge staff were terrific and worthy of working in nicer surroundings....

This hotel is in a really convenient location, just a few blocks from Central Park and Times Square and walkable to many if the other attractions. The front desk staff weren't very polite but helpful enough, and the bell boys were nice. The hotel halls and rooms were fairly basic and the bathroom could do with updating. One night when...

Now the upgrade is complete the rooms have new flat screen tvs. Very clean and comfortable hotel. We did have a problem with the lifts when checking out as they seem to struggle with the volume of people wanting to use them at peak times. Also the concierge was very unhelpfull when we asked him to call our airport shuttle...

Had a very nice stay at the Holiday Inn. Located in a residential area, there isn't as much noise as downtown Manhattan closer to Times Square or Madison Square Garden, but there are plenty of restaurants, walking distance to subway stops and Theater District/Times Square. Quick $10 cab ride to Convention Center. Rooms are nicely sized and comfortable. Room was...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
