The Beacon didn't always have a good reputation, but my room seemed to be completely refurbished, with a well-designed bathroom and kitchenette (with cups and saucers). The staff were well-trained and helpful. A microscopic quibble: the Keurig coffee machine didn't work. Otherwise fine and for a price that is reasonable for New York ($285 a night).

We were pleasantly surprised by the huge size of our King Suite. Not only did we have two rooms but each was very spacious. The tiny kitchen was a bonus. I enjoyed the included pods of coffee and real 1/2 & 1/2 instead of powdered creamer that were provided with the room. We were only on the third floor so...

My initial impression was that the hotel felt a bit dated, but over the week's holiday it turned out to be a great choice. The location is perfect – in a wonderful area near Central Park (where I went running every day), restaurants and a Fairway Supermarket (which even stocks Yorkshire tea) – as well as the 72nd/Broadway subway down...

This was our first time travelling to New York and everything was booked via Virgin Holidays. We were very impressed with the Hotel and the room we stayed in. I say room it was more like an apartment as we had a separate lounge/dining area with kitchenette. Having not travelled to New York before we did wonder if we had...

I read through a few reviews before I wrote this to see if my experience matches others... and it does. The hotel is old and this is obvious when you enter, but the hotel and rooms are very comfortable. The rooms have a little kitchenette and there is a grocery store across the street, so I had my breakfasts in...

We just got back from staying at The Beacon hotel, and we loved it. There were four of us. The room was clean, and very pretty. One of the walls did have a light stain from previous guests, but that sort of thing doesn't bother us. The pullout sofa is only comfortable for children, it would have killed my back...

We found the Hotel Beacon to be perfect for us. Kitchenette, laundry, market across the road, perfect for anyone wanting to have a little normality in the busy city. 72nd st subway station is about a 3 min walk and can take you anywhere. It may not be located in the busy locations, but it is lovely to come 'home'...

Just returned from a 5 day trip to New York City and stayed at the Hotel Beacon on Broadway. The Hotel Beacon was the PERFECT hotel for our stay.... We've stayed at the Hotel Beacon twice and plan to return. The suites offer what is essentially an apartment, with kitchenettes and laundry rooms on each hall. There is an extensive range of room sizes to choose from, the rooms (especially the suites) are extremely large for NYC, and there are laundry rooms on each hall. We come to NYC...
