You don't think of New York hotels for warm, outgoing service or big rooms, but the San Carlos Hotel has both. We were initially given a 2-queen room, which was large but had no view at all. The person at the front desk kindly upgraded us for free to a junior suite. Our 6-year-old loved the magic penny trick performed...

I loved staying at the San Carlos hotel! Beds were super comfy, staff always greeted us with a smile. The hotel offers a good breakfast, different types of yogurt, breads, cakes, coffee, tea basically all you need to start your day right! The location is perfect, in the middle of Manhattan, close to everything yet far enough from all the...

Over the years I have stayed in numerous hotels on and around Lexington Ave. Following three nights at the San Carols I decided to make this my permanent place. It's a very comfortable privately owned hotel, very different from the big chain hotels. Almost European atmosphere. Friendly (I got a bottle of wine at check in) Clean, good continental breakfast...

According to NY standards the room is HUGE! I stayed for 5 days in a king size bed in single room and it was one of the best hotel experiences I had. The room was so warm and quiet, elegant and clean. Very big space to fit luggage, working desk, it had all the equipment to make a quick meal:...

Recently stayed in the San Carlos hotel and got a pretty big room. It could have easily accommodated 4 people. Had a kitchen, large seating area with a large bedroom in a separate room and a walk in closet. You get the sense it was an apartment building in a prior life and it could use some updating. The bathroom...

I stayed here for a week and i got a quiet room toward the back, so no noise from the streets at the room. The room has a good size. Be aware there are construction going on next door, but i did not notice it much when i was there.

Excellent value for money and visitor experience. Location is central. Ideal to visit NYC. The indian restautant inside the hotel is among the top 10 in town. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is continental, nothing special but included.

Late review but still worth mentioning that all the staff in this hotel made our first family visit to New York a lovely one. Great location as it is close to Grand Central Station and lots of restaurants around the block. Time square within walking distance. Will definitely come back to this hotel again.

Just a great experience. Huge rooms for NY. Excellent location. Friendliest staff. Breakfast a bit boring but lots of great restaurants in area. Walked to MOMA, St. Peter's, Rockefeller, and Central Park Zoo.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
