This is a great place to stay if you're in visiting and plan to be out and about all day. It's got basic amenities (check for shared bathrooms) but nothing fancy. There is construction going on across the street so don't plan to sleep late if you have a window. Also we found that the shared bathroom was a bit...

When I viewed the pics online I could tell it was small, but I chose a room that said it would accommodate 3 or less for me, my husband and 7-year old. When we arrived, they offered a queen sized bed and no cots were available for my son. The gentleman I encountered on check in was very pleasant and...

Went in the winter and was placed in room 105-2. Try to avoid this room if possible because there are no windows, the heat is broken in this room, there is a uncovered hot water pipe running besides the bed, and it get unbearably hot at night. This was the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had at a hotel. Called...

Was a bit sceptical about going here having read some of the more critical reviews, however I am please to say that this hotel was great. It is simple, with small rooms and can get quite noisy however the fact you have everything you could possibly wish for right on the doorstep makes up for all the small negatives. The...

I had my doubts about this hotel, but wound up staying here anyway because availability was limited around Penn Station. My doubts were fully justified. For a price that is not a particular bargain, I got a tiny airless windowless room with no evident ventilation at all, which smelled of mold. There was no place to sit. Worse, it was...

My wife and I stayed recently at the Chelsea Inn. We found the service to be helpful, and the room better than we expected. The entire room seemed brand new, including the bathroom, as well as decor throughout the rest of the inn. The decor was modern and clean. There was some noise late at night from across the street,...

We stayed at the Chelsea Inn for two weeks. The location was perfect being close to subway, restaurants and bars. Our room was very small but this did not concern us because we only slept there and the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was excellent as it was quite hot and the bathroom was a good size....

We booked a junior studio for 3 adults and were disappointed. The room contained a queen bed and a futon - which was supposed to sleep an adult. The description said that there would be a refrigerator but there was no room in the studio for this. Very misleading. Best thing about the hotel is the exit.

This hotel is under renovation so the check in area is quite a mess. The renovated rooms are quite nice but on the small side. There is no lift so be prepared to haul bags up some very narrow stairs. This will quite the nice place when all is finished.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
