We stayed here last month and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The basement lodging is roomy and quiet - two attributes in short supply in the Big Apple. The backyard garden looked inviting, but it was too cool to enjoy it while we were there. The owners are knowledgeable about the city and most helpful; they arranged our transport back to...

... a lovely room, an ample and well-designed bathroom, and a garden attached. We had a wonderful time here. Though the May weather wasn't as good as it should have been, we loved every day and loved coming back 'home' in the evening. It's really a "B&_" as they don't do breakfast but there's a small kitchen for DIY --...

We stayed here during a one week stay in NY. Our hosts, Karen and Paul went the extra mile to help us with all our requirements. Their restaurant recommendations in the locality (and there are lots of great restaurants) and knowledge of NY was rally helpful and freely given. The room was spacious and the small kitchen was well set...

Well appointed studio apartment in the basement of a family home. Full of natural light with garden access in warm weather. Spa bathroom with a great step-in shower was extra special. Includes a well appointed small kitchen with all you would need for longer stays when you're ready for a home cooked meal. Host and Hostess are helpful and professional...

We stayed at a Garden in Chelsea for 23 nights in total, 19 in the garden studio and 4 in the upstairs apartment. It was our first trip to New York but we are experienced travellers and have stayed in apartments all around the world. Overall our stay at a Garden in Chelsea was satisfactory and there is a lot...

First, we’d like to thank our guests for writing such a thorough review of their extended stay with us. We appreciate all of the positive things they had to say, and regret those elements that fell short of expectations. We’d like to address some of the issues they raised. 1. The courtyard/garden is never shared with other guests, if only...

Comfortable beds, workman like little kitchen, wonderful little library, and fabulous garden space where we had wine with friends. In the center of Chelsea, easy walk to anywhere, welcoming hosts, we definitely want to go back. No breakfast, but so many great places nearby.

My stay at A Garden in Chelsea has been patchwork excellent, mostly due to the capably servile mom and pop team. My room was highlighted by huge windows, plush carpeting, extremely soft bedding, and fantastic amenities that I would label near inhibiting towards even leaving for other destinations. They even lay a fresh vase of flowers in your room each...

Courtesy, comfort, convenience, and understated elegance are the key words to describe the delightful Garden In Chelsea. As an older first time visitor to NYC who hadn't travelled for the longest time, I was somewhat fluttery, etc. However on setting foot in the enchanting garden my fears vanished as if by magic. I saw a Moonflower and from then on...

We stayed here in the second floor apartment between 24 October and 1 November 2015. We are a family of four, including two teenagers of 14 and 16. It was the perfect place to base our New York trip, we just about saw everything, and the apartment was great family accommodation. We had a double room and the youngsters used...

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights in the garden apartment and were 100% happy with our choice. Karen and Paul, who live upstairs and run the place, were friendly, helpful and full of good tips about New York and the local restaurants, without being in any way intrusive. The apartment is lovely, with a great garden area outside....

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
