Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location of the Empire is incredible. Just across from the Lincoln Center in the lower upper west side just a few blocks away from Colobus Circle and Central Park. The staff is amazing. A special shout out to Niya and Pasquel that were so sweet and made our stay at the hotel very special.

Aureel and Steven at the front desk were top notch hosts. Polite, respectful and went out of their way to help and make our stay comfortable. Great hotel. Great service. Great part of town. We will be returning to New York often in the next couple of years and plan on staying here every time.

Very nice experience with this hotel that is excellently located. I am very satisfied by the friendliness of the staff, who were really helpful when there was something with the noise in the room upon arrival. A special thanks to Adam who coordinated things very well. The only pity is that they don't serve breakfasts in the morning. I fully recommend this hotel.

I had an amazing stay at the Empire Hotel! Great location (you can’t do better: by the park, Lincoln center, some many choices of restaurants and shops), very friendly staff, clean rooms. Would definitely come back everytime I’m in town! Special shoutout to Steven who has been super nice during my stay.

I'm going to start with the best part of my experience and that was walking into the beautiful lobby and having Niya check me in. I had an important meeting the next day so even though I live in nyc, I decided to stay near my appointment the night before. I've gone to the rooftop since my college days but never stayed at the hotel so I was SO EXCITED when Niya upgraded me to a room with a view of Lincoln Center! She was so cheery, helpful and made the check-in a breeze! She was super helpful with all my questions and I Def recommend seeking her out if you need anything. Now the not-so-great. First, their wifi is NOT secure, it's not password protected and my more knowledgeable friends confirmed that I should not use it - that's how data breaches and stolen PWs happen! When I asked about the password and questioned the security, the absolute opposite person of Niya asked if I was CIA and what was I doing that was so secretive that I needed a password protected connection. He was beyond rude and just challenged me asking repeatedly what I was doing online that I needed secure wifi. It was embarrassing. The room was a deluxe king and I loved the view although the windows could use a cleaning and only open a couple of inches. It's definitely due for a makeover but the location, lobby, rooftop, view and Niya absolutely made the experience and I woke up energized and ready for my meeting!

My girlfriends & I came to the empire for a quick two day exploration trip on the way to Europe & it did not disappoint. We stayed at the empire because it seemed to be close to everything. The hotel was gorgeous & at check in Steven was the absolute best. Not our first time in nyc but he was able to give us recommendations on things to do as we had no specific plans. The rooms were lovely with the exception of a slight issue with the shower head which was resolved super quick after we got to our room. Would absolutely come back next time we are in the city for the convenience & Steven’s customer service alone. Hilarious & charming Steven is a keeper! & the entire staff is super friendly and accommodating as well. See you soon!

Customer service is horrible! We come to NYC three or four times a year and typically stay in Hilton or Marriott properties. Because we had a Metropolitan Opera membership discount, we sprung for a corner suite at the Embassy—an “upgrade” if you will. It took over 3 hours to get onto our room. We tried to take a lesser room as people with smaller rooms were strolling right in. Finally, after 3 hours and 20 minutes, we were told that it would be only be 10-15 minutes more—thirty minutes ago. Writing in real time: Just got into our corner suite. As we were changing our clothes, housekeeping comes barreling through the door with a bed scarf. What was supposed to be a one-day trip to the opera (a la “Pretty Woman”) turned into sleeping in the lobby with loud, annoying jazz blaring.
