Was there from 7/25/2013 to 7/27/2013. Located 2 blocks from Times Square. Run down street feels dangerous at night.Hotel is old with tiny lobby and cheap furniture. Three two person elevators, no space for luggage if more than 2 carry on pieces. Room view: a brick wall, shower YMCA style, no bathtub, half glass, the floor gets wet when you...

We went to NYC a few weeks ago to take our 9 years old daughter to see the Broadway musical Anie, and we decided to take a chance on Hotel Mela, instead of booking with one of the very well-known hotel chains in the area like Marriott or Hilton. We absolutely had a fantastic stay at Hotel Mela!!! When we...

Yes, the rooms are on the small side but very clean with comfy beds. The service was pretty good. The location is GREAT. The first time I stayed at Mela, we were on the street side, this time our room looked out at a brick wall but it was sooo much quieter, I liked that. We didn't use the room...

We stayed at he Hotel Mela for a few days in March and had a great experience. Rooms are small but nice. You cannot beat the location! One morning we woke up and walked to the deli a few doors down to get a bagel. Someone approached us while we were walking down the street to see if we had...

What a great place to stay- clean, close to all theatres & Times Square is a few steps away. It's close to great eateries (try Dopo Teatro & Un Deux Trois across the road). Jean Paul is a great concierge: very helpful & friendly. Rooms are a little small, but this hotel is unbeatable value.

This is the place to stay in NYC. They are in an excellent location, near many fine restaurants. We have stayed there four times in five years; last year we did not visit NYC. Thoroughly recommended. They even arrange transport to your airport.

We just finished a 3 night stay at Hotel Mela. While I don't really have anything overly negative to say, there is not also too much to rave about. The location, obviously, is perfect for access to Times Square and surrounding activities. While the rooms were clean they were teeny tiny; even for NYC standards. We were in a King...

We had a delightful stay here in Hotel Mela. Staff was very friendly & our room was nice & clean. Elevators are slow but not so bad. I didn't have any problem with the outside noise, our room was very sound proof. It was only a 2 minute walk from Times Square & their's plenty of places to eat at...

Stayed here in June location is fantastic right on Times Square, rooms are on the small side but how long are you going to spend in there? The double was a squeeze, but the room was clean with ample small ensuite coffee maker. It was value or money , in a great location, extremely helpful staff, would stay here again.

I stayed here for a weekend with a girlfriend and had an amazing time. It's in the most amazing location, walking distance to Times Square, Broadway, 5th Avenue, Grand Central Station, St. Patrick's cathedral, etc. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and really helpful, particularly the concierge, JP - he gave us such great advice and seemed to know...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
