I don’t think that i have been to another JW Marriott in which I came back home and described it as "Ehhhh". The location is fantastic just off the south central park drive. The architecture is interesting with toms of character and history. My room did face Central Park but was fairly low to the ground, this left something to...

From check in to check out, this Hotel was very good. Our room (while not a great view) was very big and comfortable. The bed was heavenly. Soaking tub in the bathroom was wonderful. I would say the only thing that was not the best was the bar. SLOW Service unfortunately. Our concierge recommendations were good - especially the breakfast...

The room was huge and luxurious. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and the location is spectacular. Loved it and had a great weekend. It was everything I would expect of a high end hotel. I would not have breakfast there. Too many other good options nearby.

We have been staying at the Essex House for about 30 years. Recently, we stayed for 5 nights. Our rate included free breakfast in the club area, but the club area was often full. On two mornings we ate breakfast elsewhere. Before J. W. Marriott took over the area for "breakfast included" was much larger and this was not a...

The location really can't be beat - it's right at Central Park, an easy walk to a lot of NYC highlights and you can generally get a taxi there too. The windows are not very thick, though, so being right on a major street made for a noisy night - I think I jumped three feet out of bed when...

As said in many other reviews this hotel is in a fabulous location. We have stayed here on several occasions and I'm sure will be back. The rooms are a good size with wonderfully comfortable beds. The bathrooms are a marble and of good size for NYC if a little dated. On our last visit we arrived and it was...

In my experience there are plenty of not very nice hotels in New York that charge over the odds. The JW Marriott Essex House is better than most. It is not cheap but the location (views over Central Park) is excellent, the staff helpful and the breakfast was good.On the down side the room was not particularly big, the bathroom...

In the past we have stayed at the Westin Times Square. I chose the JW because it was close to Carnegie Hall where my son along with his high school string ensemble (yes a bit of a brag, but, I am so proud of him and the rest of the kids) were to be performing. I also chose it because...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
