Long long overdue from Dec 2015 but I believe I should review this great hotel. Location is perfect (just opposite Macy's, decent and very clean rooms. It has everything required for a short family stay over Christmas period.

If you value actually getting sleep, do not stay here. There is a nightclub on the top floor, which can be heard all throughout the hotel. And not just the bass, I was basically playing “name that lyric” at 11 PM while I was trying to get to sleep. The hotel was absolutely useless in helping us out. A guy (I won’t use the term gentleman because he was anything but) named John would not give us a lower room, despite originally saying he would, because the street noise would be just as loud. Which, shouldn’t we at least see if that is the case instead of dismissing us? He then, on our third trip down to complain, asked us immediately “so would you like to check out”, with a smirk on his face. I don’t think John has received the memo that he works in the hospitality industry. John also said he would refund our money, and he has not. Thank goodness we found a fabulous hotel across the street who actually takes care of their clients.

We were in town for 2 and half days with our kids and needed to have a good location in Manhattan to optimize our travel across the city. This Hotel by Marriott is perfectly located literally just above the tube station Herald Sq and allows you to go pretty much everywhere in Manhattan and is walking distance to various classic tourists places such as 5th At or Times Sq. The hotel offer minimal service (one lobby with a breakfast bistro, food average and pricy though) and rooms are ok for are short stay

It was our first time in New York city and this hotel is perfect! Close to Macy's, times square, Madison Square Garden, Empire state building and subway. This hotel has a rooftop lounge/bar and has a coffee bar that serves starbucks. However, for 2 nights in a row the entire floor including our room smelled like pot. I informed the front desk and the manager who immediately attended my complaint. I guess It could've been the neighbor or we don't know. The issue was resolved by a spray! Other than that, It was all good!

First off, the staff at the front desk including Sheen and others (I lost my note with their all their names) were incredibly nice and fun to interact with. Bend over backwards helpful and really enjoyed interacting with their customers. Then there was Jose, who handled luggage storage! He really knows the city. We didn’t want to do the tourist locations and just wanted to walk around parts of the city. He recommended a walk down the West Side and across 14th that took us thru many neighborhoods and parks. It was awesome. This guy is worth asking about things to do! Our room was excellent (NYC SMALL but worked great for us!) Bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the view of the Empire State Building. Very happy with the accommodations! Great location in the city to walk to many places and a subway station right there also. Perfect for an event at MSG. We took the train down to the city so we stored our luggage prior to our room being ready and again after checkout as we had time before our train. Very convenient! We did venture to the rooftop bar but didn’t stay. Nice views but this was a “club” for younger people and wasn’t for us (we are in our 50’s). But was jammed and appeared to be very popular. We highly recommend this hotel and if we overnight in the city this will be our place!

I stayed for 4 days on a business trip. The location was super convenient to my midtown meetings and the staff was excellent. The hotel was definitely worn around the edges from my room to the elevators to the corridors. If you're looking for an affordable, clean, central hotel with no frills and nothing fancy--go for it. The best part about this property is that it's 2 blocks from Korea town (32nd St) so I ate spectacularly well the whole trip.

The hotel was right smack in Herald Square. The subway station was literally at the door step. The area surrounding the hotel is always busy with lots of people but was also well patrolled by the police. We had views of the Empire State Building on the left and Macy's on the right. Though we were on the 16th floor, we could still hear some noise from the roof top bar. Getting Halal food was not a problem as there were plenty in the hotel vicinity. The only minus is the size of the room; the room was very small. And the toilet was minute. Human Factors were not taken into consideration when they have designed the toilet. This can be improved.

We stayed 3 nights at this courtyard during the NYC Christmas season. All throughout our stay I was continually impressed with the professionalism of the employees. They were always excellent inspite of what must be ongoing problems. Our first night we arrived and we told that the double room we reserved and required for 4 people had been given to someone else. We were put in a smaller room, that only slept 3, with the promise that the next day we would be moved to a bigger room. Despite discomfort of squeezing into the small space we agreed, but when we arrived back at the hotel that night to sleep, the real issue became obvious. We were on the 17th floor, right below the rooftop bar that stays open until 4am on weekends! Our beds and room were literally vibrating to the music. The base continued until almost 3. Ear plugs provided blocked out the sound, but not the base. The front desk was fielding all manner of complaints from every room on the upper floors. The remainder of our stay was uneventful and comfortable after we were moved to a new room on a lower floor after the first night.

My wife and I were travelling with our baby of 12 months and my mother-in-law. When we arrived at 9.30 p.m after a long journey from Europe (2 flights and more than 12h), the room was still not ready and the pack and play for our baby not dispatched! 30 minutes later, I had to come back at the reception to complaint because our baby still can not sleep while it was 4 a.m for him! (And what is incredible is that I faced a similar situation a few weeks ago with Marriott Vienna during a business trip where a room was not ready at 5 p.m!) Moreover we have made this reservation on June 2019 for a stay in December 2019 and made a special request for an upper floor and nice view because this travel was a present for the 60th birthday of my mother-in-law who visits NYC for the first time and we wanted something special to please her. Finally, we have been provided with a room at the 5th floor (super noisy) despite the special request made a long time ahead of our visit. We have been told that no other room was available which is a non sense since the reservation has been made months ago. And finally, only 2 breakfast have been included in the reservation while we are 3 adults. We stayed at the Hilton a few years ago which is literally next door and had been granted a room with nice view on the Empire. We should have booked there to avoid such disappointing and frustrating situation. Thus, make the correct choice. On my side, I will never stay within Marriott anymore!

Our room had a great view of Macy's and the Empire State Building. Perfect location. Jose, our valet, was super friendly and helpful. Our room had a full size sofa bed so we had to rearrange it but that was minor. We drove to NYC so they held our luggage after we checked out until we were ready to leave. You have to call an hour before you need your car since it was parked off the premises. Great trip!
