This hostel need some help to make it more attractive, first thing is once you get there, they make you pay upfront before seeing the room. there no where to keep your belongings safe. The worst thing is that you sleep among several people, there no privacy. I have stayed in the hostel for about a week, and the room...

The good thing about the hostel is that it's easy to meet other people, but this is only because the hostel is so small. The communal area is tiny. There's barely enough room for 6-8 people, let alone 20+ when the hostel is full. This makes having breakfast (bread and jam only) very difficult and crowded. There is a girl's...

So arrived, jet lagged and tierd from the red eye and met with a rude and lecturing host. Demanded that i pay for all the nights up front in cash, before i can even see the room. Didn't like the sound of that and the pressure that if i didn't pay immediately my room would be given away, as it...

Like the other recent reviewers I loved the personality of the hostel, and the staff were really nice, but its not totally perfect. The location is also excellent located very close to the subway from the JFK, it is also close to the main attractions including time square and the empire state building, and given its Midtown location the other...

It was a very bad first impression. I arrived in the middle of cleaning time and my first impulse was to flee. But since I had to pay in advance I decided to give it a one night trial. Well, it was for the best. The female dorm space is narrow, the breakfast is extremely frugal but the hospitality is...

The Chelsea Centre Hostel is on the ground floor of a residential block, conveniently located in midtown NYC - walking distance to times square, bus station and empire state building. Heidi, the owner, is warm, motherly and welcoming even after 20 years in operation. She really helped me out - despite having a full hostel, she was somehow able to...

Ok, so here is my two cents worth: 1. The owner, Heidi, is really nice but when when she's not there, the people who work for her show their true unfriendly colors - mean and abrupt; the one girl was so rude that if I hadn't paid already I would have left straight away. 2. They make you pay before...

After a couple of bad experiences - I found this nice little hostel in Manhattan/Chelsea. The atmosphere was phantastic, I met a lot of interesting people! Its a very small place, that why you get better in contact with the other guests. also the staff was very nice. A big plus is also the little backyarden were you can chill...

After having stayed in a bad hostel in UWS (Jazz on the Park) for a night, I really needed something else and I found this nice place. There are only about 20 comfortable beds with good blankets and a reading lamp besides, the location near 8th AVE and walking distance to Times square etc. is very convenient. Nice people were...
