We were in NY to see several museum exhibitions. TRYP was convenient to Penn Station, and we found it to be clean, comfortable, and with a friendly staff. Very pleased with our stay there, and we will go back again.
Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel. Also, definitely NOT by Times Square so don’t let the name fool you. We just got done with an 8 night stay in the family theater room here that only happened because of was a non refundable stay booked before the pandemic and they absolutely refused to bend on that. I have never been at a hotel that was less willing to accommodate or help their guests. Here are the things you should know: HOTEL ROOM: 1. The room itself is small, especially for a family. Way smaller than it appears in photos. 2. There are almost no drawers or side tables to put your things. 3. The metal bunk beds will fall in if your kids lay by the wall at night. 4. You will go to bed and wake up to music/noise outside your window every morning. The only way to drown it out is to turn on the AC and freeze. Requests for a noise maker or normal fan will be denied. 5. They are still advertising a Nintendo Switch in the room. There was one but it wasn’t working and the hotel staff told me they removed most of them for that reason and couldn’t help me with it. BAR/ROOM SERVICE: 1. The elevators advertise an app to order room service. We tried this once and after getting an error twice we tried texting or calling to correct the order. No one in the hotel would help us no matter what number we called. We were away from the hotel trying to order food for my teenager and couldn’t go to the bar to order in person. No one cared in the slightest. 2. Happy hour is slightly discounted beer. That’s it. Don’t waste your time. FITNESS ROOM: 1. Most machines were broken. 2. Fitness room fan broken. 3. You could tell it was never cleaned. No disinfectant to wipe down equipment. HOUSEKEEPING: Only showed up every couple days and usually at the end of the day. Sometimes they would leave soap, sometimes not. It was an absolute crap shoot. SUMMARY: As a die hard Wyndham member understand that they have the name only, nothing close to the quality or dedication to customer service. DON’T STAY HERE!!!!…
My husband and I traveled to NYC on May 24, 2022 for a conference at the Javits Center. I booked our stay at the Tryp back on April 18, 2022. I paid in full $316.46 for a king bed. We took a train into the city and arrived around noon. We stopped at the hotel to see if the room might possibly be ready early, but it wasn't. So, we stored our bags in the luggage storage room next to reception and left for the conference. Upon returning to the hotel late after dinner, we were told there were no rooms available. When we told the man at the desk we had reservations, he informed us that our room had been given away and there were no rooms available. Apparently he was made aware of the situation before we arrived and made multiple attempts to contact the manager. The manager did not reply to any of his texts or answer his phone call attempts. He even showed us on his phone the messages he sent to the manager. The only option they provided us with was to have us stay at a sister hotel owned by the same owner on 29th Street called The Paul. We had no choice but to accept their offer and took a cab to the other hotel. When we arrived there, the man at the desk had a room for us, but it was a bunk bed room. After arguing with this man for some time over the accommodations, we reluctantly had to accept the room, especially since it was after 1 am, we had no car, and trains back home weren't running again until morning. The room at the Paul was cramped and dark with a window air-conditioning unit, which meant the window was open and noise from the street was coming in. We were only on the third floor, so it was very loud. A trash truck came in the middle of the night and trash dumpsters were being banged right outside our window. I got no sleep at all. We were planning on doing some sightseeing today (May 25th), but did not want to leave our bags at the hotel after the experience we had. We also didn't want to drag our bags around the city, so we left early on the first train we could to go home. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A WYNDHAM HOTEL ANYWHERE EVER AGAIN!!!…
I normally don't write reviews but couldn't let this one pass. When we got to the room we discovered that it had a cracked window that they covered with a piece of cardboard. The cardboard covered a large amount of the window space and had been there so long that the duct tape was peeling away from the frame. Made the room very dark. I went to put our water into the refrigerator and noticed it was warm and not working. Reported it right away but by the end of our 2 day stay, nothing had been done to repair or replace the unit.
I stayed at TRYP for one night while meeting up with friends in the city. The hotel delivers exactly what it says which is a decent experience and clean, comfortable rooms while staying in the city. It’s not a ‘resort’ and really is only meant for sleeping and showering. If you’re looking for more of a hotel/resort ‘experience’, thus won’t be the place for you! TRYP is very centralized located on the west side mid-town close to Times Square, Port Authority, l dining choices, and the theater district. I had ore-paid my room making check in a breeze. My room was a double Queen with a work table with a charging station, a Keurig machine, and a bathroom with a shower. The room itself was well acquainted and updated. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is also a place to leave your luggage, etc. prior to check in and after check out. There is a bar area in the evening right off the main lobby…I never stopped so I’m not sure how expansive the drink lists are. The only drawback for me was that if you want to check in early if your room is ready, you have to pay an additional $34. In any other hotel I’ve stayed at in the city, so long as your room is ready, they will let you check in early. HOARDS of people hanging in the lobby from 2:30 on waiting to check in…In times of Covid, you’d think they could relax this and waive the fee to let people go to their rooms early to avoid long waits in crowds. Overall, a clean and comfortable place to stay while visiting NYC.…
