Never having been to New York before, we picked the Chandler as it was fairly small and looked handily sited to visit the city sights. We were not disappointed, it is a brilliant base and the staff are exceptional: nothing is a problem to them. The rooms were fairly small but have everything you need. Close to the subway and... The staff are welcoming and very helpful, they upgraded my room to a quite one which totally meets my needs. Have no city view in my room, but it's really well decorated, elegant. The building is beaux art style, if you like to appreciate these, it won't let you down. Plus, very good location.

You should let guests know that construction is going on upon checkin Pile driving started @ 6:45am each day. It would be useful for planning. Coffee and Tea in the lobby was excellent. Staff really friendly and helpful

The weights in the exercise room are hard to access (too close to the wall) and disorganized. I suggest moving the unit to the left-hand corner, by the window, organizing the weights, and putting clear labels where each one should be returned.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location, courteous & knowledgeable staff, rooms were not huge but clean and comfortable, but be aware we were asked to pay a refundable damage payment of $350 per room so make sure you budget for this

Building next door is under very, VERY loud construction. Facade covered in scaffolding. Interior is just worn out. This hotel must have been a very nice place 5-10 years ago. Now it's worn out. Lobby is dusty. Furniture cushions have collapsed. Staff warned us NOT to get a room with a view because of heavy construction. Tiny (even though we... More

Very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Room spotlessly clean and very attractively furnished and decorated. Air of calmness about this hotel. Location was perfect for seeing New York being only a block from the Empire State Building, Macy's and other key landmarks. Free wi-fi and free coffee available 24 hours a day were much appreciated. I was even given chocolates... More

I got a great deal because of Cyber Monday, but I honestly really liked my stay in the hotel regardless. Staff were warm and friendly. Room was beautiful and well furnished. Didn't eat breakfast, so no opinions there. Great location. Definitely on my short list for NYC in the future!

A great rate on Trip Advisor led us to this hotel, but I'll lead myself there next time I visit NYC. The staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful, the room clean and adequately sized for NYC (I admit we were upgraded to "superior" from standard), and the constant supply of coffee, tea and water a happy extra. The location is... More

We were very satisfied with this hotel. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was great and staff very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful lobby and sitting area with fireplace, couches, tables and chairs which was nice to sit around and drink coffee and eat donuts while warming up around the fireplace! Location was close enough... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
