The hotel is within walking distance of the ferries, helicopters and the 9/11 memorial. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Two things to note - no minibar in room but alcohol isn't everything, and no tea/coffee facilities - complimentary coffee before entering breakfast area but is removed by 9am. Peter, the director of restaurants, is a joy and not...

You only really find out how good a hotel & staff are when things go wrong ! On that score I have to give this hotel a a 9.5. My husband was unforunate enough to get food poisoning on our last day (we assume from the Ritz Carlton, as we did not eat anywhere else that day) - so spent...

We wanted to stay at a hotel that afforded a 5 star experience away from the hustle & bustle of midtown Manhattan & we found it! The views, room & service could not have been better. Easy walking to all lower Manhattan had to offer & nearby subway & taxi service to beyond made this hotel an ideal location to...

As a member of Ritz Carlton we could use the members club which was perfect for breakfast . I did not have a good experience at SPA , but the front desk manager is a great friendly young man who takes care of every thing .

Loved my stay at The Ritz Carlton. The staff went out of their way to please me. They made me special vegan breakfast, added a fridge freezer in my room and polished my high heel shoes! I was impressed. So far, the best hotel to stay. I only wish it was closer to the boutique shops.

Sadly, there was nothing exceptional about our stay at this hotel. In fact, there were several disappointments that simply do not measure up to what is expected of a Ritz.Carlton property. 1) We were given a room with a shared door to an adjoining room and therefore could hear every word of conversation and ring of the telephone next door,...

We have stayed here twice, most recently, two weeks ago. We have stayed at many Ritz Carlton hotels for both business and pleasure. The location is beautiful and convenient, right across from the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty and walking distance to the World Trade Center. Battery Park is such a lovely area of NY, more quiet and...

This hotel was very nice but certain amenities were missing. No towel bars to hang up wet towels, no plastic laundry bag(s) for dirty clothes (can get by calling front desk), no vending machines only room service, and no in-room refrigerator. A soda from room service was $6 and a decent breakfast in 2West (the only restaurant in the hotel)...

As stated by another reviewer: “It is good, but it is not Ritz Carlton excellent.” It seamed more like a nice Marriott. The hotel is in a great location of lower Manhattan. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Check in was OK, but not up to Ritz standards. When I checked in, I asked for an upgraded room or water...

We visited the hotel with the family between christmas and NY. The quality of the hotel is good. The location is on the southern part of Manhatten. It is close to the financial district and the Metro to the rest of the island is within minutes from the Hotel. Good place to sleep when you visit NYC.

Lausanne, Switzerland

Hi all,

I'm a bit up in the air here as to the Battery Park Ritz and figured I might ask a few questions & share a few thoughts.

2 adults, 2 children (3&7) booked into a 1 bedroom liberty view club level suite

I'm a bit worried as to transport times & distance. Out of 5 days in NY I can't imagine we'll be in the Battery park area more than 1 or 2. Cost isn't really an issue compared to a 30 minute trip with a tired & cranky 3 yo. Any young families out there that have tried it out?

How good are the Statue of Liberty views? In some photos they look pretty decent while in others lady liberty looks like an ant out on the horizon. Honestly, the view is the main reason I'd take the Battery Park property over Central Park. We just got back from the Ritz Tokyo & had a wonderful city view from a 53rd floor corner suite. Even if I could find a hotel in NY that commanded such views, I would like to have my daughters remember NY a bit differently (one view overlooking a city is pretty much the same as another to young children right?).

Are there really no coffee machines in the rooms? I can't remember the last time I stayed at a hotel without an in-room Nespresso or Lavassa machine & this includes smaller 4* boutique hotels. A bit minimalistic for a high end luxury 5* isn't it?

Any truth to a lack of bathroom amenities? I expect 4*s (and lower 5*s) to stock tooth brushes/razors/sewing kits, etc. on property but properties such as the Ritz should have such things in-room & replenish them when used.

How is this property with kids? What in-room amenities were given for the kids (crayons/colouring books/children's soaps/children's toothbrushes/stuffed ritz lion/etc.)?

Better yet... What were the adult 'welcome amenities" (i.e. welcome card & chocolates)?

Thanks in advance.
