Wonderful stay at the Hyatt Herald Square. Like many Hyatt hotels, service was above excellent from Tricia at checkin to the staff at checkout. Everyone was welcoming and so friendly. I was here for one night to see a show and the location was perfect (Don’t skip out on the amazing views of the Empire State Building from the rooftop!) Room was cute and comfortable with 2 beds and comes with a fridge in an unexpected spot. The buffet breakfast was also really good with a lot of options and not too expensive. Very convenient for the weekend I came when it just rained the whole time and I didn’t want to spend a lot of time looking for breakfast. I don’t like staying in Times Square with all the crowds and Herald Square is a good spot for those looking to stay out of the hustle and bustle but within walking distance to all the fun stuff to points north and south. The hotel is a good short walk to the theater district and just around the corner from Koreatown, which has lots of great restaurants.…
We landed in LaGuardia airport, then took the M70 bus to Roosevelt station in queens, then the number 7 train took us straight to herald square where the hotel is only 3 short blocks away. No need for expensive shuttles or taxi. The hotel is in Excellent location as the herald square subway stop has several transfer points that can get you close to almost anywhere in Manhattan and easy access to any other borough.
Very well situaded near Empire State Building and Flatiron Building, Brodway and Fifth avenue. Very clean and functional hotel : rooms are good dimensions, clean and quiet. Warm welcome and staff always ready to help.
As cleanliness is our number one priority, this property gets our highest rating for any property, short of over-the-top experiences, for which we reserve our five-star ratings. Let's start with the BEST - the room was exceptionally clean - linens were fresh and crisp and bright, including all the towels, which were also super clean! A++++++++ The floors were also super clean, as was the bathroom. Thank you, Hyatt. The bath amenities were nice - the brand was Pharmacopia - the argan oil collection. We may order some from Pharmacopia as they were really good. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Super. Less than thirty minutes walking (or a $15 cab ride) to Times Square or the Village. Just about 10 blocks to the NYC Public Library/Bryant Park, and Grand Central/Summit. The resort fee is very reasonable and included a $15 credit per night for dinner or drinks at the lobby bar. However, I think due to staffing issues, the bar was hit-or-miss. The kitchen took OVER 45 minutes for a burger and fries. We finally had to tell the wait staff that we had to go or we would miss our show. That said, the burger was FINALLY delivered and was exceptional (very tasty). Apparently, a kitchen staffing issue. Meanwhile, although the bar was said to be open until 11:00, it was closed early the two times we tried to go there for a nightcap after Broadway, before 11:00 pm. So, for the lobby bar/restaurant, the key is to go very early (before your night out) and go for after-dinner drinks elsewhere, in our opinion. Another hit-or-miss was the staff. Exceptional, or just there. Kudos to Rachel and Lorena/Lorana for EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. The property has a beautiful rooftop that is open, but with no food or drink service (when we were there), not even cushions on the seats. But, a great view. What a waste. It could be the prize attraction here. Our view was of the street/building opposite us but was nice. I think some rooms must have great views of the Empire State Building. In our fifth-floor room, we heard lots of noise but did not really mind. If that is an issue, maybe ask for a higher floor. It is a mid-rise. with almost 20 floors. The room size was VERY small, even by NYC standards, so if the size is your preference, not the best choice. It was more like a cruise ship room with a much better bathroom, But, for our three-night visit, it was perfect for us. At the $300/night we paid (all in, including taxes and fees) we would return as they met our number one requirement - A CLEAN, CRISP, FRESH room. Thanks, Herald Square Hyatt.…
Great hotel with an outstanding staff tucked off broadway by Greely Square. Rooms were very nicely fitted out even though they are Manhattan sized. Staff couldn’t have been better. Rooftop is a great place to hang out even during off season when the bar isn’t open. But the staff was always encouraging one to get food and drink downstairs and take it up.
