It all started 4 hours before our arrival with the answer from the hotel's sales manager. To the question about the situation of the room, Mrs. LB Sales Manager answered that I would only have to go outside to have light and a beautiful view. Not only did the room face walls without any visibility but the hotel was located in an ugly and noisy street. It's hard when you are a customer and you pay a lot of money for 5 nights to hear people laughing at you...! In short, this is nothing at all compared to the rest. The room was tiny and did not correspond to the surface given on the sites. This is not very serious either! Out of 3 elevators, only one was working with interminable and unbearable waits. A second one was repaired at D+4... The cleanliness was non-existent. The 2 beds that made up the room, one had unchanged sheets, dirty therefore, with hair and stains. An absolute scandal. We arrived late and we waited until the next day to ask for special attention to the cleaning and the change of sheets. The staff at the reception is very nice but they are useless. All they do is write in a notebook. Our request was heard D+3 when I yelled to the reception that if the sheets were not changed within the hour I would call the Police for a sanitary control. I discussed with other customers of the hotel, several similar facts were evoked: Propeté very uneven from one floor to another / Staff totally unable to manage the slightest request and ineffective and unmotivated, making only act of presence / chronic understaffing. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE…
This hotel is decent, but the staff --- including those at the desk and those cleaning rooms -- are not wearing masks, despite signage that masks are required. I mentioned this to the manager, who said that she would "discuss this with the staff." But I've seen no change. This is ridiculous!
I would like to commend Rodrigue at the front desk for his genuine and intuitive sense of hospitality. In few words, he made our stay as comfortable as it can be since our check in until our departure. We sincerely thank him for his support and assistance
Courtyard Marriott is a very central hotel in New York City, on busy Varick Street. Moderate pricing for Soho, but room and bathroom areas could be cleaner, with housekeeping only by request. Front Desk and General Manager were very helpful and professional.
This hotel is in a great location, only one block from the 1 train. The C/E trains at Spring Street are also very close, and the West 4th Street subway station is a short walk away. The hotel itself is nice, and the rooms are pretty big for Manhattan hotel rooms. When we checked in, we were told the internet was down for the entire hotel, and it remained down for the first night, but was back up the following morning. The service though, was not great. When we checked in, we were told that because of covid, housekeeping would not clean your room unless specifically requested. We were staying four nights and requested housekeeping come just one day. They never came. Since they didn't come, we had to call to request fresh towels. Nearly two hours went by and still no one came by with towels. So we had to call again. This was pretty disappointing service. Also, on Monday morning at 6am the alarm clock in our room went off. Normally housekeeping would clear out alarms when switching over the room. So the housekeeping service here seems pretty weak.…
Weekend stay at the end of April 2021: The hotel seemed like an older Courtyard. Tiny elevators, expect to wait for a while and for it to be full when the elevator finally arrives. The size of the room was what I expected for NYC. Amenities were all gone as a result of the pandemic cutting--which was expected at the time, but reflective of cost-cutting by hotels as a whole. The staff was curt and generally indifferent; there was no elite recognition. Towards the end of my short stay, I asked if I could borrow an umbrella, which I thought would be normal in any "full-service" hotels, and was told I could go buy one from the shop. Not sure if the hotel management would blame not having umbrellas on Covid (which would be ridiculous), but this is truly a bare bones property. The only positive was the location if you're visiting West Village.…
The room was dirty. There was an armoire and we placed folded suit bags on top. When we took them down, the bottoms were covered with large dust bunnies. Hasn’t been cleaned for 6 months or more. Bring a roll of Bounty paper towels for they are more absorbent than the thin towels they provide. Shampoo. One small bottle in a room with 2 double beds. Enough for 3 people with crew cuts or one person with short hair. Fitness center. Your card key won’t get you in. Ask for the card at the front desk for entry. We did that and the card did not work either. Small room. Think cruise ship may be bigger, but hey this is NY and the rate is reasonable. This one aspect is forgivable but the others are not.
I should have done more research before staying here. I chose it because of the location and because I generally like the brand for lower-cost stays. However, none of the hotel amenities were open. None. This was just the room. I assume this will improve as the regulations change, but as of my stay there was no benefit to staying here. I should have picked somewhere else.
Stayed there one night for business during the sweltering heat---solid hotel only downside is it is located few streets from the Holland Tunnel entrance and when there is an issue in the tunnel traffic to and from the hotel heading to Liberty Place is uber difficult to maneuver.
Celebrated my wife’s 50th in NYC and this Courtyard SoHo was a perfect stay for such an occasion! They gave us a free upgrade to the top floor with fantastic views! Every single employee we ever interacted with was helpful, friendly, and always willing to answer questions. They also welcomed us back each time we walked in the doors. The room was clean, plenty big enough, and the elevators were fast! The location is perfect-just 2-3 min walk to the 1 train, and 4-6 mins from another stop. CVS and Trader Joe’s is 3-4 min walk as well. It’s also close to do math great places to eat in the Village-including Bleecker St Pizza (7-8 min walk). We greatly enjoyed our stay and would be exorcised to stay there again if we ever go back. Thank you Courtyard for a wonderful stay!
