I stayed in a room with three other people with two twin-size bunk beds. For others, this may seem like too many to a room, but the price we were able to get for 4 nights in NYC was absolutely unreal and so affordable for college students who are on a budget.

The location to the subway was amazing as well as the amount of restaurants that were close and walking distance. The downstairs lounge and bar was so clean and offered the cutest backgrounds for pictures.

Along with how cute this hotel was, the staff was absolutely phenomenal. When we needed fresh towels or anything, we would call and it would be at our door in five minutes.

Will Erwin at the front desk was especially helpful and memorable. He never acted annoyed with our endless questions and gave the best ideas for things we must do while we were in the city. He offered a smiling face whenever we walked back into the hotel and was always so welcoming and joyful - he helped make our trip wonderful!

I have recommended the Moxy Hotel East Village to all of my friends and family after that amazing stay!!!

Stayed one night this week for a quick college tour. Location is fabulous for a neighborhood vibe. On the edge of the East Village and also walkable to Greenwich Village. Lots of restaurants nearby. Check-in was quick and easy. Other guests were generally very respectful of the 2 people or one family limit in the elevators. Quiet at all times.

Our room had a queen bed and a single. Room was small but super creatively designed so our teen had his own space with the single bed and a TV and adults had our own separate space with a queen and TV. Queen bed was flush to a big window with views of rooftops and the Williamsburg Bridge in the distance. Multiple pegs on the walls and a small nook for hanging clothes. Toilet/shower is enclosed by graffitied opaque glass walls and a glorious rainhead shower. Strong wifi.

Services are limited because of COVID. However, free breakfast was given in a nicely wrapped box with a can of cold brew iced coffee, muffin, yogurt and piece of fruit.

Highly recommend if you want a relaxing stay in a lively, vibrant neighborhood.

Hi BooKat, Wow! I'm thrilled to hear you and your family enjoyed your time with us and love the detailed description you gave of our unique guest rooms. The floor-to-ceiling windows are definitely one of our distinctive features and gives the room a larger feel. We tend to agree that our location is one of the reasons Moxy East Village distinguishes itself from other hotels in the city as well. We're looking forward to welcoming you back on site soon! The check in was easy and efficient and the front desk worker was friendly. We took a quad room with 4 bunk beds. The room was quite small. No way two people could walk side by side from one end of the room to the other. Two beds were near the front door, the sink was next and across from it, the bathroom with a toilet and shower, followed by the other two bunk beds. The bathroom shower area had glazed glass walls. You could not see through it, but you could see shadows, which might not be ideal if non-family members are sharing the same room. There was space under the beds for placing items and place under the far bunk bed for larger suitcases. The wall had plenty of pegs, to hang towels, jackets, etc. Due to the room configuration, the back two beds shared one larger TV and the two bunk beds near the door each had their own personal, smaller TV – which was great if you like to lay in bed and watch TV. The room was good enough to just show up at night and sleep. But if you needed to spend more time in here, it would be rather cramped. The parking garage, that the hotel uses, is a few blocks away and it costs $45 a night (or every in and out) to park, with the hotel’s verification stamp – so be sure to get your ticket stamped every time you drop off your car.

This place is okay if you are just looking for a place to sleep and nothing else.
It seems that they've put a lot of effort in the design (it's very modern/hip) but aside from that, there is nothing 4 star about this place.

The rooms are small but that's expected of this premium location, and design attempts to compensate for it.

There were many small things that make it sub-par, but nothing outrageous. If you were to say that this is a 3 star, I would believe you.

Example, towels were crunchy and harsh on the skin instead of soft and comfortable. Asking guest services to bring up an extra towel took about an hour and half and a reminder call. The soap and shampoo are bolted to the wall and shared between guest to guest. It's great from environmental perspective, but during COVID times, it's a little strange to be sharing such items.

The hotel was clean and adequate, although definitely short on any amenities. The night clerk was very accommodating with my hot water request for my cup of tea and the housekeeping staff was polite and accommodating. That was the positive.
The front desk seems accommodating until you find out they really did not book your car to the airport. This they messed up on not once, but twice; and then assured me they would call or text me to confirm that they corrected their mistakes- they didn’t.
Then there were the charges on my Marriott card. I reserved the room paying with points. At check in I was asked for a card to cover incidentals charged to the room. The first night I was charged more than double the nightly room rate. When I inquired about this charge the person at the front desk told me that it was a security hold that would be removed at the end of my stay. However these charges continued each day, totally three more than double the room rate charges on my account.
My husband then called the front desk to inquire about these charges to our account and he was told that there were no charges on our account. He asked for a manager and the manager refused to come to the phone. He waited 45 minutes for a requested call back from the manager. My husband then called back, and again the manager refused to speak with him. In the end, he needed to call Marriott to intervene and finally got the charges removed.
Two final customer service failures: since the rooms were getting housekeeping service on the fourth day of your stay I decided to opt out since I was only staying five days but the front desk forgot to tell housekeeping; and when I checked out and began to ask how I could identify my car service I was definitely treated with a negative attitude.
I understand that the Moxy’s vibe is supposed to be edgy and hip. It’s not supposed rude.

I researched this hotel carefully so I am going to assume I stayed here on an off weekend and perhaps this hotel just hasn’t been having the easiest time dealing with changes since covid.
Staff was mostly friendly, I had one unfortunate interaction with a really rude guy who brought an ice bucket to my room, but other than that staff was fine.
The decor is really cool here, many many places to take cute Instagram pics if that’s your thing.
Location is great, very close to plenty of things and if you’re a walker (like me) midtown Manhattan is only 30 min on foot.
My two biggest issues with this place (which honestly ruined my stay) were the comfort and the cleanliness.
Comfort: the rooms are laid out very unintelligently. I stay regularly at small room style hotels where the bed is literally half of the footprint of the room and this is the WORST one by far. The space under the bed doesn’t fit anything besides maybe two pairs of shoes? Most mini hotels your suitcase goes under the bed. The little swing table to use in bed is nice but in my room it wasn’t usable as it got stuck on the built in chair. The sink / vanity area is tiny, the little closet area was good but there were only 3 hangers which didn’t make it very useful. The absolute biggest issue bar none however is this wide gap between the bed and the wall. This gap is too small to fit your hand but plenty large to drop items. It’s also where the outlets are located but once I dropped a chapstick and a brush down there I decided I wasn’t dumb enough to keep my phone there. I shone my light down to see if I could reach any item I dropped and I realized I was FAR from the first person to drop something... I saw dust bunnies, food crumbs, Q-tips, tissues and an entire hanger down there when I looked, so gross!
So cleanliness: the under bed area that clearly isn’t reachable by housekeeping is just so nasty. I pulled up the edge of the mattress to check for bedbugs (I do this everywhere) no bedbugs but I did find a seashell shaped nipple pasty (like from a mermaid costume or something) beyond nasty and I sincerely hope it hasn’t been there since Halloween. The fabric steamer was also FILLED with mold, this was gross to me and definitely should’ve been caught by housekeeping but it is a steamer so I get it. I called the front desk to request a new one, I waited an hour then had to head out for an appointment, when I got home that night there was an iron sitting outside my door...bizarre.
I changed hotels after a few nights and finished out my stay at a nicer hotel a few minutes away that was less $ per night so I can’t say I thought the value of this hotel was good.

We enjoyed our stay at the Moxy. First, we were able to check in early, which was wonderful! The location was incredibly convenient to the East Village not filled with countless tourists. The room was compact but nice and accommodated not only my husband and I but also our adult daughter. I was worried about the glassed in toilet and shower and a possible lack of privacy but it was fine. The glass was opaque. The shower had great water pressure, which is sometimes a problem in hotels. The only two negatives were the room was small, but it's NYC and they maximized storage and used the space well. And, it was incredibly hard to get a drink down at the bar. The first night it was fine. After that it went downhill. When we said something to the front desk and asked if we could order drinks through room service, they said they were not actually affiliated with the bar, so all we could order through room service would be beer. Otherwise, we were super happy with the Moxy and would return again when in that area.

I have been staying here since Monday and I am so disappointed that I am seriously considering leaving and going to another hotel. The customer service in this hotel is the worst I have ever experienced and my expectations were not that high to begin with. Covid precautions are not being taken seriously, unmasked guests are walking around the hotel and getting into elevators all the time. The elevator sign says there is a limit due to covid and no one follows it. The staff does not say a word regarding masks even when people are at the front desk talking to them without a mask. We were told our room would be cleaned on the 4th day of our stay due to covid and that toiletries and towels would be provided upon request. On our 3rd day we requested towels and toiletries, we submitted the request through the Bonvoy App and had to call the front desk 3 times before we finally received the requested items. Today is our 4th day here, we called the front desk to "remind" them to clean our room today. We left our room twice during the day and called the front desk before leaving to remind them again to clean our room. The 2nd time we were told someone would be right up and that housekeeping is here until 5. We returned a few minutes before 5 and our room had still not been cleaned. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Indigo in the lower east side last week, similar priced hotel and the experience was sooooo much better!

I enjoyed my recent one-night stay at the Moxy East Village. The hotel has a fun vibe with inviting public spaces. As expected, my room was compact in size, but it was clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed to maximize space and functionality, with clever touches like a multi-use pegboard. I wouldn't have wanted to share the room with another person, since the bed was set up so that you could only get into and out of it from one side (the other side was up against the window). But staying there by myself, I found the room to be more than spacious enough. The bathroom was very clean, with a nice rainfall shower, and the smart TV in the room worked great.

Like so many hotels these days, the Moxy charges a destination fee, but at least you get a lot of value from the $30 nightly fee this hotel charges. You can, for example, apply it toward laundry or breakfast at the coffee shop or your bar tab. The coffee shop serves excellent breakfast pastries, but if you want a hot cooked breakfast, the nearby Ruby's Cafe is highly recommended.

One downside: The hotel doesn't seem to have adequate elevator capacity to meet the demand. There don't seem to be separate service elevators, so guests are often squished in among huge laundry carts, and the waits for an elevator can seem endless at peak times. I often ended up walking down the stairs from my eighth floor room.

Overall, my stay at the Moxy was so much more pleasant than my stay at the Hyatt Union Square, which had more expensive but inferior, outdated, and depressing rooms.

We stayed for 2 nights with my teenage daughter. Tons of great restaurants and close to the subway, within 30 minute walking distance to Little italy, Soho and Chinatown. The room is small and narrow, its the length of the bed plus a couple of feet. We got a double and one bed was against the window and the other perpendicular to that bed. No desk and a 2ft wide closet and lots of hooks along the wall. There is storage under the bed and a shelf/open closet area at the end of the bed next to the window. No bathroom just a stall for the toilet and a large shower with great water pressure and in between a sink area. So there is a problem with privacy, especially if you have a teenage daughter. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I loved the area, loved the cleanliness and the check in was a breeze. The service was very nice and I compliment them on their efficiency, but it needed amenities like a desk where I can put my coffee and a tablet and a sliding door for privacy, a towel bar inside the shower and a hook for wet towels. I also did like the fact that after a hot shower the entire room became very humid since there is no "bathroom". Our room never got made even though I had hung up the sign for "Green service". However I would stay at this hotel again even with all its faults because of its location, friendly service and cleanliness. I would suggest a higher floor though I was on 4th and I could hear the street noise.

I believe they have to be 21 to get in at night. During the day, I think they offer refreshments for everyone, but that might only be certain times of the year. I’d check with the staff, as they were newly open when we went. There’s also a place to get coffee and pastries downstairs with ski ball and games that’s fun. Hopes this helps!
