There were no welcome information for World of Hyatt Discovery member benefits. I had to ask about free WiFi, a bottle of water, And breakfast. The air conditioner and the room phone were not working. They kept sending a technician who could mot fix it. When I asked for a different room. The front desk stuff refused it. I had to assert myself and insisted the move. Finally the manager accommodated my needs.
Had a room on the 25th floor, King bed with pull out sofa. Room was pretty banged up, marks on the walls, bathroom door did not ope all the way, toilet paper holder separated from the wall. Pull out sofa "mattress" was hardly that...an egg crate topper was about as best as I could describe. I could feel every spring in the pull out frame. Breakfast was mediocre at best....very crowded and not a lot of selection. Be wary of the $100 deposit at the time of check in...still haven't received the deposit back.
We had 3 adults, We opted for a room with King Bed and pullout couch. The pullout bed was a joke--thin and lumpy with coils 1/4" under the sheet. VERY uncomfortable. We called the front desk and thankfully they moved us to a room with two double beds, which worked for us. So customer service was good in that way. Rooms are very small, 250 square feet, so be prepared to be tiny. Breakfast experience was very good and efficient. We stayed four nights and the location was great for the theater district and pretty good for the major museums.
Decent location. Relatively accessible to subway (a few blocks in a different directions), and across the street from a number of other hotels. Not the most updated, and never seemed to have enough staff. Our room was ready very early...but that's because the A/C wasn't working, which we didn't realize for a bit but they KNEW. They eventually found us another room, but did not keep us apprised of the situation. They were very busy. I'm guessing they were affected by poor staffing, but still: it left these guests with a less than stellar experience.
I know NY rooms are small but this one was ridiculous. Sitting on the toilet, no one could use the sink. Carpet had a red stain. The supplied lotion and soap was never replenished and we had daily maid service. Breakfast room was dirty and the tables were rarely cleaned in between guests. Could not request a late checkout until the next morning to speak with the morning manager.
The location is excellent as it is close to everything and we were able to walk everywhere. The single room for me is extremely small but the bed was comfortable. The staff was kind to us and whenever we needed something they always took care of our needs. The only thing we can point out is that breakfast was the same daily (fruit, cereal, oatmeal, muffin, bread, yogurt, boiled eggs, mini waffle packet in sugar), we expected variety but for 6 days it was the same breakfast and the same flavors of everything, they do not vary. We did not want the room cleaning service for the first 4 days and when I asked for it on the 4th day they told me that they would come the next day (day #5) at 8am, we got up and nothing. When we went out for breakfast outside of the hotel because of my birthday and we came back by 12PM just to give time to come to clean, nothing. I managed to run into a girl cleaning the room next door and the only thing she did was complain that the reception did not tell her anything and that although it was her floor she had other rooms and she did not have time to just clean the shower and toilet only and nothing else.. .we had to take the garbage out of our room, help her with the towels and she gave us everything to change our bed because she didn't have time...interesting…
My son and I stayed at Hyatt Place times square from March 27 to April 3. We chose this hotel particularly because the room, according to the Hyatt web page, was quite large for New York standards (250 feet and larger ones). Upon arrival we were trully disppointed as we noticed that the room was far smaller . I contacted the manager at the front desk. He told me that all the rooms had the same measure. Just looking at the floor plan I realized that he was lying. The first 3 nights the weather was really cold, below 0 centigrades, and the heating was not working properly. It was repaired after the third night. The room was not cleaned after the second night. We arrived late at night and went to the front desk to complain . They promised to clean it the next day and that never happened either. Upon checking out I thought that at least I would accrue points in the Hyatt loyalty program The points never appeared even though I provided the loyalty number when I checked out. The manager does not meet the basic standards of a Hyatt Hotel. He always had a ridiculous answer to every claim. The hotel was never responsible for anything. He always answered that we booked the room through a third party, that is a travel agency.…
Decent enough hotel. Reasonable walking distance to Lyric theater where HP play showing. We upgraded to room w/ sleeper sofa so the room was a decent size by NYC hotel standards but there is not an extra room for the SS. The SS is immediately next to the K size bed and too uncomfortable even for our 90 lbs daughter. Outside sidewalk is a little trashy but then this is NYC. Angelina's bakery just around the corner and is excellent. Staff was very accommodating including holding our luggage on last day after check out while we walked around the city.
Nice hotel for a short stay room is a little small but then again you are in the city , everything is walking distance the view from the room is a nice view , the lobby has a good vibe with the bar and the restaurant
The room was good (as expected for the price) with enough space for 2 people. The "included" breakfast was, at best, a "snack". The best part is, that if you have any food allergies/intolerances, there aren't any options available, so you basically can't have breakfast, although you obviously pay the same price as the rest of the guests... Also...the cleaning policy of the hotel is, at best, just odd. The cleaning of the room needs to be booked with 24h in advance, otherwise there won't be any cleaning happening...obviously, nobody mentions that during the checking... Overall a couple of things the hotel needs to improve...
