I live in New Jersey but I work in the financial district, and I needed to stay overnight for a couple of days. I chose this location because I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member, and it was right around the corner from my office, and the least expensive. I didn’t have any expectations other than I needed somewhere affordable to sleep. I honestly thought it was going to be less than ideal because of how affordable it was. Wow - it ended up being an amazing experience! The entire place felt so CLEAN. I’m not sure if it’s brand new or they just have a great cleaning staff but I was comfortable in my surroundings. It’s quiet, the beds are comfortable, they have a snack store in the lobby, and I surprisingly liked the quality of toiletries in the bathroom since I forgot shampoo on conditioner. What else do you need for a 2 night business stay? How about an amazing restaurant? It’s set up like your standard hotel restaurant and I expected middle of the road quality food. Nope. This was like an 5 star quality! I had breakfast and was blown away. Delicious avocado toast with an over easy egg. It was so good I came back for dinner and had to be chicken Caesar salad and fries. I can’t believe how good it was. It’s the reason I decided to write this review. The meals were pricey but anywhere in the city is going to be. At least the portions were big! So happy with this stay and will now be a regular for any over night work stays!…
Enjoyable stay. Spent 4 nights at this hotel. The front desk is very friendly and the room itself is clean. Size i smaller but this is what you expect in NYC. I know on the website it talked about construction but I honestly didn’t hear any noise. Location is great as you are 5 mins walk to South Street seaport and 10 mins walk to subways station. Lots of restaurant options within a 15 mins walk.
We arrived. Phone didn’t work. Ok. Next day had family stuff to do. Exhausted. Room 81 degrees & thermostat didn’t work. Had to call placement company before response. At 6am Friday, they moved us to dif room. No sleep. Not stayin there again
Let me start of by saying we come from an area where big hotels and casinos are a major thing. So since my stay from 11-20 to 11-24 wasn’t the greatest but there were something the did okay. When we checked in obviously there was a line which we understood that. But when checking in the front desk agent was too quick and did not speak loud enough for me to understand but I was able to manage to catch what she was saying. Btw didn’t mention a restaurant on the second floor or meeting room on the second floor, or the little convenient store in the lobby or microwave, didn’t find that out until my second night. I asked her for extra towels and those were brought pretty quick. The room was super small on the 8th floor compare to the photos I saw online, there literally was only room for 2 people and 1 luggage but at this point it didn’t bother us, we already paid for it and checked in, we can manage (2 adults and 1 child) Day 2, We were woken up to grinding noise and smacking coming from somewhere at literally 7am, constantly smacking and grinding, I wasn’t told about remodeling or fixing stuff or even mention to me at the front desk. When we were about to head out, I double checked the door securing and it didn’t. Opening the door with the key worked but the door locking on its own did not, so we called the front desk and had us wait 10 min on the line, I ended up seeing a housekeeper working down the hall and asked her to call engineer to come to my room, she called him and engineer showed up before the front desk answered. The engineer informed us that I would need to switch rooms so he can put this room out of service. He walked to me to the front desk to assist me with getting a new room, but the front desk people were I wouldn’t say unprofessional but unprepared. Honestly I felt better customer service from the engineer than the front desk agent, he kept informing me I’ll see what I can do for you, I’ll see if I can move you up to a room with a view and honestly that feels nice that he attempted, it shows he cared and was sincere, I knew it wasn’t up to him to put me somewhere but it felt nice that he did that but while he was talking to the front desk agent I kept hearing her say, “we don’t have any rooms” Now someone who works the hotel/casino industry, you never say things like that in front of guests, it paints a very concerning picture in my head. So she advised me to bring my luggage down to the front desk so she can keep them until a room is available, which we did. We brought it downstairs but when we got back down, they seemed unprepared for the amount of checkins or checkout, so the young lady told us, she wasn’t sure they had anymore tags for the luggage but told us she will see if she can find some anyways but doing so, she ends up going back to desk to check in people and left us standing there, not knowing what we should do. 10 min later she finally says we have only 4 left which we took for our luggages, while this is all happening, I’m observing only 2 front agent working and 1 who seems to be a manager not really helping except pulling out some bags from boxes and answering a few questions from other guests. I asked the front desk agent if they will have a room ready for me and she says thing “should”, “possibly”, “more-than likely” have a room for me, how do you think that feels coming from across the country? Not so good but we took a chance at it. When we got back to the hotel that night, they didn’t have a room assigned to us but they did have a room available which is fine, but it would’ve been nice if they had it prepared for me. I asked the gentleman for extra towels and trash bags but did not get them at all that night Day 3, We were yet again woken up to hammering and grinding noise but this time even louder at 7am, again we weren’t told or they didn’t even mention about the construction or renovation or whatever work is being done. Definitely felt the higher you go the more noise there is. Day 4, our last night yet again more noises, couldn’t really sleep before our flight, definitely just wanted to say F*** It and just check out not and see if I can catch an earlier flight. The night before I bought some stuff from their small store and when I asked the manager for a bag, she bluntly said “nah” but couldn’t accommodate me with something rather than an answer. So out loud I just it’s cool I’ll figure it out. So would I recommend people here, yes, would I come back , no…
Constant construction starting at 7 am, incompetent front desk staff that does not accomodate your needs. I was excited for my stay in Manhattan, but the experience couldn't have been worse, all for reasons within the control of Marriott. First, the front desk checked me out of my room 20 minutes after checking in. I booked a deluxe, riverview room, yet that reservation was not honored until I raised the issue. At no point was I informed that there was construction that started at 7am every morning. When I raised the issue, the front desk staff lied to my face and told me it was happening next door and they couldn't do anything about it, literally as I watched it going on outside my window. This was an embarrassing attempt at hospitality by one of the world's biggest providers of it, supposedly. After all that, I had to jump through hoops to even get a discount on my room or transferred to another property.…
