Ok so let me start with the positives. The room has a bit more space than standard rooms in central Manhattan. And the bathroom was spacious too. But it does not look like the photos at all. More like hostel/dorm which I didn't like. No bed headrest, no duvet just folded sheets on the end of the bed!! ;-( Wanted to leave right away. The walls were paper thin so I could hear a couple arguing. :-( And the area looked a bit run down too. Only positive was the front desk staff were nice but I wouldn't book again.
Good basic hotel. The hotel was clean and I felt safe. Good location and the staff was friendly. Cleaning had to be requested at the reception. Hotel is on the edge of lively Chinatown, not too noisy. 24/7 grocery on the other side of the street. I stayed for 10 nights. I would stay again.
This hotel is straight up terrible. They get everything wrong, and you have to call them multiple times just to get your security deposit back. So where should I start? How about the worst hotel shower I've ever been in. It barely drained, and the shower curtain (there was no liner) tried to cling to the opposite wall of the shower, attacking me constantly when I was in it. The "smart" TV would hard reset every 10-15 minutes. There are common areas that could be nice if they bought some decent chairs. As it is, you can sit on a backless bench in a cluttered room. Finally, the security deposit. I was not informed there would be a security deposit until I checked in. And three weeks later, I haven't seen a dime. I've tried calling them, but they just put me on endless hold. This is a straight up scam. Don't stay here.a…
Practical location - you get the full flavour of China town! Comfy clean room. Wifi etc all working and fine. Staff helpful. Good price for the location. A/C worked well which was useful. It’s a practical and functional hotel - does what it says on the tin
This place was fantastic! Staff were very friendly, room was very clean and beds were comfortable. They also allowed us to keep our luggage there before and after check out so we would not need to lug things around NYC before catching our airport shuttle. Conveniently located and great base for exploring the city. Will definitely be back!
Don't trust this hotel!!! The worst experience of my trips. I made a reservation months in advance, I already read some negative reviews about this hotel cancelling your reservation at the last minute but I decided to trust because I read some positive reviews too, but to make sure I asked the hotel several times during those months and before the trip if the reservation wasstill active and they told me “of course”, well what's my surprise when I get off the plane in new york, I turn on my cell phone and I get a text message saying that my reservation is cancelled!! without any reason, so I called them and they tell me that they have already given our room, and with sarcasm they say that we should come back another time, shameless! It turns out that that day there was a macro-concert in the city and they saw that they would get more money for that night in the hotel than for the whole week we were going. The result of their bad management was 9 hours in the airport looking for accommodation! Because of the concert there wasn't a damn room in the whole city at less than 1000 dollars per night, we felt totally helpless in an unknown city, they didn't even give us any alternatives, very tired by 8 hours of flight and instead of being able to get to the hotel, we had to stay 9 hours at the airport calling all the hotels in the city, with the consequent phone bill as it was a spanish phone! A whole day's vacation lost!! looking for a place to sleep and wanting to go back to my country because of these scoundrels. The budget for the entire trip spent on the first night because of this hostel. Don't let them ruin your whole trip, don't let them ruin your dream trip to New York, don't go to this hotel!!…
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel/hostel as a package through Priceline. After it was booked, I looked at reviews outside of Priceline, and I got REALLY worried I made a bad decision. However, I rolled with it and figured if we go in expecting the worst, we'd be OK. Well, we did just that and we were REALLY pleasantly surprised. The room we had reserved is exactly what we got. It was clean, the bed was comfy, the pillows were great, there was a ROKU TV, two full-length mirrors, and a small bathroom stocked with body wash and conditioning shampoo. The front desk young lady was helpful and nice, and the lobby area offered drinks and chips for purchase and city pamphlets to plan out your trip. No, there is NOT any free food or drinks, but there are way too many CHEAP restaurants around to count, and a deli/bodega right across the street. The subway is easily accessible, and there are lots of things to see and do within blocks of the hotel. Reading some of these reviews, I see a common theme: they all used one specific booking site and got screwed over. I used Priceline and had ZERO issues. Go in with reasonable expectations and an open mind. If you're looking for lots of amenities, you're looking at the wrong place. This place is REASONABLY priced due to fewer amenities. If you want more- go elsewhere and spend more. Plain and simple. I would 100% go back to this place and recommend it to anyone I know.…
I'm seeing that this also happened to a lot of customers after my trip, so I want to warn you: THEY WILL CANCEL YOUR BOOKING A FEW HOURS PRIOR CHECK IN! I arrived at the hotel only to find out they rejected my booking an hour before due to a decline on my credit card that was accepted and fully functional elsewhere. I had that reservation for 3 months prior my trip. Clerk didn't do anything to help and I had to juggle staying a few days there and a few days on an emergency airbnb that blew my trip's budget off the air. That beign said, the rooms are clean and the beds comfy. One of the receptionists, Aika, is really rude and will make you feel like you’re bothering her just for making her do her work. I also had a bad experience with one of my roommates because she didn’t liked that I secured my things, just to find out later that a guest from other room got all her luggage stolen for not doing that. She was also really messy and dirty, but this is obviously not the hostel’s fault. It was my first hostel experience and the next time I will definitely expend a little more, book a hotel, and have a much more relaxed holiday.…
I arrived at 2:30 and was told to come back at 3 since my room wasn't ready. I knew check in began at 3 , so no problem. I went to eat and returned an hour later. I checked in, went up to my room and was shocked to see the front desk had checked me into a room that hadn't been cleaned. urine in the toilet, trash strewn about the floor, unmade beds...a disaster. I returned to the front desk and requested another room. The desk clerk could not have cared less. She didn't immediately try to find me another room or ask a staffer to clean it. She told me to take a seat ( there aren't any seats in the lobby) and she'll see what she could do. Well, she didn't do anything.
This is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Gave me the wrong room. First they blamed me for it, then blamed the booking site for it. Then finally admitted it was their mistake. Then finally said they'd refund the first night to make up for up. Then only refunded half of it. My stay was a month ago and I'm still dealing with them. HARD NO ON CANAL LOFT HOTEL.
