Incredibly inexpensive for Manhattan but you get what you pay for, it seems. There is a 25.00 per day urban charge, like a Resort Fee. However, for that we were to have access to daily cocktail hour, a bar/ restaurant, an outdoor bar/ lounge deck, WIFI and daily housekeeping service. None available. WIFI died half way into our stay. in lieu of above we were to get 15.00 worth of items from the hotel store but that was almost empty containing only a few bags of peanuts and snacks., and they had the Gaul to pcharge us for that one day. We disputed the bill and the fee was reversed.Breakfast was available at a tiny room with few tables. We brought it to our room after waiting for elevators. It didn’t help that they closed a portion of the breakfast room for a private meeting removing even more seating space. Front desk seriously understaffed. Snaking lines at all hours and too busy to answer phones. With no housekeeping we ran out of shampoo and soap. Didn’t mind drying and reusing towels. An answered call to desk responded that someone would bring it up but never did. I went to the desk at an odd hour and was able to get a shampoo. many negative reviews have been responded to with the same lame excuse that they’re recovering from COVID and having troubles. I can understand that . Think, if a restaurant had room for 100 patrons but only staff to serve 50 would they accept reservations for 100 or 50? I guess the brand doesn’t care about repeat customers The king size mattress was on a platform that was almost three inched bigger than the mattress. The corners of that platform were covered by the bed covers. The clearance between these corners and neighboring furniture and walls was about 12”. I have some nice bruises on my shins. In fairness, they packed a lot ( too much?) into a tiny room. There was virtually noplace to store anything. A tiny closet in the bathroom could not be closed unless the hangers were angled. The bathroom itself was quite roomy and nice. FUFU sink with no mechanism for removing the stopper other than placing your hands in the dirty water. Excellent shower stall with good water pressure, though the doors may have been put on backwards. The lighting and mirror were the best I’ve ever seen. In fact, all the lighting was great. Additionally, there were more and better placed electrical outlets and USB ports than I’ve ever seen. All in all, despite some excellent qualities, the room and experience were second class and it would be a long time before I ever returned., i

Hotel's Favourite
I spent 4 wonderful nights at this Embassy Suites. The bed and pillows were super comfy, and my room, being on the 24th floor, was extremely quiet! I chose the Studio room with the floor to ceiling windows and I'm so glad I did. If you are a solo traveler or a couple, this room is your best bet in terms of space and layout. Rooms ending in 17 are the biggest, according to the published floor plan. Now I see that some recent visitors (a few sounding a wee bit entitled) have written negative reviews and I'm sort of surprised. The hotel's website clearly listed the limitations as far as its restaurants being closed, no cooked to order breakfasts, etc., also that housekeeping had to be ordered a day in advance. I thought the hotel did a fantastic job, considering we are at the tail end of a pandemic, every business is short staffed, and gee folks, these rooms were super cheap compared to the normal prices (about 70% off the high season rate). I paid $130 a night for my room. I was not expecting a Ritz Carlton experience, and frankly was grateful I was able to travel at all after being in lock down for over a year. By the way, the snack bar was well stocked with high quality, healthy snacks, and I got a plenty of food every time I used my $15 room credit.

Our rooms were not available until 8PM because of cleaning issues. After traveling the whole day with 4 children it was awful to have to wait that long. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and nice but they were clearly overwhelmed.

I thought about rating this a 4, as they are trying their best to improve amidst covid and hiring struggles, however I felt that wouldn’t give a full picture. Just know that things may improve in the near future. Every person I dealt with was obviously trying very hard and was quite pleasant. Pros: For NYC, the rooms are nicely sized and the views cannot be beat— we had the Empire State Building RIGHT outside our window. Additionally, they charge you $25 a day resort fee but you can use it as a credit toward snacks in the lobby pantry. In my experience, the front desk was swamped and never cared what we took. The staff is polite and hard working and trying very hard to get up to speed. The breakfast also seemed well rounded and the hotel is near good squares and parks for people watching or downtime. Also room AC is great and many people wore masks. Cons: The hotel staff is SWAMPED and getting towels or other things takes hours. The AC in public areas is spotty and we often encountered very warm areas. Elevators are on the slow side and you need a room key to access them. The wifi went out during our visit, so that was challenging, and many features were closed, like the outside deck (maybe due to covid staffing?). At breakfast there was an odd rule that you HAD to eat in the dining area, which made us nervous due to number of unmasked people. Tips: Rooms that end in “09” have awesome views! If you need housekeeping things like towels, ask for them between check out and check in time as that is when it is least busy. Definitely get your money’s worth of snacks (you DID pay for them). Also, join honors and you can check in online to skip the massive check in chaos downstairs. Finally, if you are vegetarian be aware that the number of good restaurants in the area is slim. Overall, I’d say this is a perfectly good budget hotel for a quick stay. Go into it knowing that some things won’t be comfortable or run as usual due to covid and appreciate that the staff is trying hard. If you are ok with that, you can’t beat the price. If you’d prefer more prompt attention and well rounded experience this probably isn’t for you.

People were waiting hours to check in. Staff was professional al but not properly supported by hotel management. It was impossible to get any type of cleaning service without jumping through hoops. Trash was littering the hallways.
