Customer Service Fail! The first night our shower was broken. Things happen, we get it. Unfortunately another room wasn't available to change us to that night and no one could fix it that night. Ok, unfortunate but we get it. Night two, we return at 7pm after a long day of work. Apparently a pipe had burst in the building...

More than I expected for the price and better than I could have hoped for, this inn is now my Number One choice for travel to NYC. Located within half a block of several subway lines, close to hip watering holes, comedy clubs and within a sort trip to sites and venues up or down town. Inside is very welcoming...

My wife and I spent just a night with our 10-year-old daughter on our way to visit friends in Brooklyn. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our room on the third floor facing the church next door was spacious and quiet. Our daughter loved the pull-down Murphy bed that was tucked in an alcove by the window. Our own...

Arrived late from airport, but email instructions from Eric easy to follow for a novice visitor and easily found our way in from the street, likewise room details left in reception were fine. Liked the atmosphere of trust with the honesty bar - set the tone for our visit. Staff efficient and helpful, especially when one of us was unwell...

We came to NYC over Spring Break 2016 to look at colleges and otherwise enjoy the city. Townhouse Inn is located perfectly in Chelsea, with 2 subway stops less than a block away. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor (#32 and #33) and very quiet. Our teenagers shared a room and it was comfortable for the 3 of them,...

Accommodation in New York is always difficult, but with this hotel, we were pretty satisfied! Please be aware that there is no 24h reception, we arrived at around 10pm so the owner gave us a password to open a lock at the entrance where we could find keys to open the door. Not really the best way to start a...

And you don't get cozy in NYC very often! It's pleasant, the breakfast is excellent and comes with the room, there is an "Honor Bar" in the check-in area where you can get snacks or drinks, and the prices are totally reasonable. You're treated like a trustworthy adult, not like cattle like in the giant mid-town hotels. Plus it's convenient...

Just stayed at the Townhouse Inn and had a wonderful stay. We had 3 adults and 2 teens and stayed in their suite with a separate bedroom. We needed 3 sleeping spaces in the living area, and the sofa bed (not great but our 12yo didn't care), day bed, and an additional cot (both comfy) worked out great. The hotel...

Highly recommend The Townhouse Inn. Our room was large and unique, breakfast was good, price and service even better. It was nice to have large NYC bagels and good coffee in a large airy setting. Would definitely stay here again for a New York weekend.

I found this online and thought I'd check it out. We stay for a week and I would stay again. It may not be for everyone though, it is furnished with antiques and old wares, decorated like you are visiting and old uncle but very comfortable and quirky. I loved that it wasn't a modern chain hotel and it was...

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. “Don't book a room at this hotel.”
  • Broken furniture (or maybe dumpster dive
  • We're not FANS of dust build-up (enjoy the snow machine)
  • Welcome to your suite (don't bother covering this one up with the faux sheep skin)
  • SHOKINGLY horrendous (Don't like the clanking radiator? But still want heat?)
  • Just gross (carpet everywhere looked like this)
  • Torn blankets (or, another dumpster dive score?)
  • Carpeted lights? Carpeted with dust, that is.
  • Thought we would be looking at a painting, not a carving
