the rooms are styled for the beginning of the 20th century and have a certain atmosphere (it is a pity the blankets have holes or stains). unfortunately the AC is so loud, it is almost impossible to sleep, the rooms have inadequate lighting so it is difficult to read. you cannot open the window because the AC is in it....

We arrived after reception was shut but had been emailed how to check in and everything was organised for us. Coffee and tea can be made in the liabrary 24/7 and the Internet was good. The room was clean and comfortable and the location perfect, just a few blocks from Penn station. THe only grumble I had was the air...

This hotel has it all! The rooms are huge - with a sitting area as big as the bedroom, the library is charming, the staff are friendly and the location is ideal for up or down town. It was well-priced compared to other hotels and they were happy to hold our luggage for the day. There are a few vagrants...

We stayed at the townhouse inn as we were looking for a place near Madison square garden comfortable for 3 adults-mom and 2 twenty-somethings. We have spent lots of time midtown and uptown, but this was our time to enjoy the Chelsea and downtown area. The location was perfect. Walkable to all our interests (msg, high line, Madison park) and...

We really enjoyed our short stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. This was my first time in NYC, and I'm so glad we stayed here compared to a big box hotel. It might not have the amenities other hotels offer, but honestly I never use most hotel's amenities anyway. This was a much more personal experience. Eric was so...

Loved Everything about this adorable Townhouse Inn. What a spectacular experience. I have been going to NYC every summer for a weekend get-a-way with family to meet our VA cousins, perfect 1/2 way location! We have been traveling to NYC for appr. 10 years and would stay in different parts of the city to experience it all! Well, we (6...

Every year a group of us meet up in NYC from different parts of the country. For 10 years we chose a different location in Manhattan so we can explore different sections of NYC. We have decided we will forever come back to this wonderful place! The rooms were so comfortable and roomy, bathrooms were large for NY standards. We...

Having traveled and lived in Europe, this in felt like coming home to a pensione! Eric and Ryan were extremely welcoming. The breakfast was exactly the right amount of food to start the day. The location was extremely convenient to the subways to explore all NYC had to offer. Will recommend to traveling friends in the future.

What a great find! This little hotel is right in the midst of Manhattan, and yet was very reasonably priced. The room is very clean, nicely decorated, and spacious by Manhattan standards, with a private bathroom. The bed is comfy, and free Wi-Fi is nice. Eric, the host, is super friendly and eager to help us in any way. In...

This inn is a mixed bag. Our Deluxe Room had a comfortable and attractive king size bed, a tiny settee so low to the ground that neither of us could get out of it without help, no room phone, a tv the size of a computer, stained carpeting (including a round throw rug next to the bed with stains that...

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.

“Don't book a room at this hotel.”
  • Broken furniture (or maybe dumpster dive
  • We're not FANS of dust build-up (enjoy the snow machine)
  • Welcome to your suite (don't bother covering this one up with the faux sheep skin)
  • SHOKINGLY horrendous (Don't like the clanking radiator? But still want heat?)
  • Just gross (carpet everywhere looked like this)
  • Torn blankets (or, another dumpster dive score?)
  • Carpeted lights? Carpeted with dust, that is.
  • Thought we would be looking at a painting, not a carving
