Upon check in the staff was very impressive. Bar attendant (unfortunately her name slipped my mind) was the only TRUE GEM I encountered in this hotel. This was not because she served alcohol, but she did truly made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Lobby was modern and welcoming. Hotel lobby and rooms had pleasant aroma. The room was...

I was stuck 3 days in New York after major flight cancellations with Delta and without my luggage. Everyone was so friendly at the front desk, as well as bell and cleaning staff. Jasmin and another ( that I cannot remember the name) were so accommodating to my circumstances, gave me a discount on my room and gave me great...

I spent one night at The GEM this week in NYC while visiting my sister whose apartment is on the opposite side of the same block. This place is incredibly convenient for visiting and was my reason for staying. I checked in rather late and was pleased to find my room still being held for me. My sister, who was...

The property was OK and I really liked the neighborhood. I confess I am picky about hotel rooms and found my room to be just OK -- it wasn't as clean and orderly as I like. The carpet was frayed on the edges and the bathroom could use some improvements.

Booked in late in the evening so would of expected the room to have been fully valeted by this time, carpet needed a good vacuuming & some white stuff (Plaster from window on the window sill) but the rest of the room was tidy. A bit small but as with most metropolitan hotels space costs so am used to that....

Great location, small rooms yet clean, up to date and comfy. Staff is very friendly and eventually helpfull. Great nearby restaurants and fab Murray's across the street for great bagels & breakfast as no breakfast is served at hotel. A must try.

The staff really make the hotel somewhere worth staying. They are accommodating and always ready to help with a friendly smile. The rooms are small, (what you'd expect it NYC) clean and up to date. Location is fantastic, slap bang in Chelsea. Loads of fabulous restaurants and bars on your doorstep.

Some good news and some bad news. First, the good. The hotel reception area is bright and welcoming; the desk staff friendly and efficient. Right next door is a farm-to-table restaurant that attracts many young apparently well-heeled patrons. On the wall outside every room is a small plaque showing a scene from old New York. From our (clean) room at...

Really basic hotel a tiny room. I'm not impressed at all!!! specially for the price paid. Stains on the walls and carpet. Pant and wallpaper falling apart. Did I mention that my room was extremely small? I could have stayed in a much better hotel with similar rate

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination.
