What a great experience! I discovered the Beekman Tower hotel through booking, while searching for an apartment to rent for a week long vacation in NYC. This turned out to be the best option I could find: the structure offered all the services I was looking for, and the budget was reasonable and in line with the price ranges in NY - actually, I was surprised a whole apartment was just a bit more expensive than a very small cramped hotel room! I was almost afraid there would be unpleasant surprises at my arrival, but far from it. The building is beautiful from the outside, and in a quiet residential area surrounded by all the commodities you may need. The one bedroom apartment was spacious, well equipped, very pretty, functional and clean. I asked for a room on a higher floor and I was assigned to the 8th floor. Initially I was a bit disappointed (the building is about 25 floors tall after all) but I have to say the view from my windows was amazing either way! I’ve read other reviews criticizing the fact that the rooms are old/worn out/dirty. I don’t agree at all! Yes, the apartments are not just-renovated-shiny-brand-new level, but honestly the sparse worn out details here and there are nothing compared to certain rooms in Midtown hotels that are used by thousands of tourists each month. Personally, to me a chipped bedstand or a slightly scratched mirror are not essential details in the overall judgement of a hotel. I have to say that the fact that there is no regular housecleaning service due to Covid is quite unfortunate. However, unless you are planning to stay long term, I think you can handle wasting 5min keeping the apartment clean with the utensils left at your disposal. A big heartfelt thank you to the entire front desk staff: no matter who was on duty, I was always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome, and was promptly assisted for any need. I had a small incident one evening and after seeing me distressed, the concierge asked multiple times if they could do anything to help. I felt very looked after and safe, especially since I spent the last fee days alone. In conclusion: this has been a wonderful experience and I very much look forward to returning on my next trip to NYC, possibly for a longer stay! Thank you to everyone at Beekman Tower for making my stay so great. See you soon!…
We started by finding out that we were only on the 3rd floor and that there was only bedspace for two of us. The sofa bed turned out to be just a sofa. A wheely bed supplied as a result helped but felt like a stop-gap. Our next issue was the noise level due to a), it being New York, b), the window was stuck partly open, c) there seemed to be quite poor levels of sound insulation. Location was handy for getting around the city and we found good bars and places to eat etc nearby. The apartment was quite smart but snug however the power sockets were a bit lacking and not in areas where the charging of 21st century tech was needed. We really wanted to see the view from the building but felt inhibited about visiting the rooftop terrace as every evening there was a roped off area around the lift to the Ophelia bar, with someone guarding it, as a result it was a view that we didn't get. Maybe I was expecting too much but it certainly wasn't cheap. It was OK but I wouldn't return.…
Super location a block from the U.N. Just here for a long weekend but definitely a place for a month long stay. Had a galley kitchen and livingroom with terrace (great river view!) and tub/shower, queen bed, 2 smart TV’s. Conveniences: 2 delis on the block, lots of restaurants within 3 blocks, crosstown and uptown bus stops just steps away.
Well, I guess I get what I pay for. It's very hard to find a two bedroom in NYC, so we THOUGHT this would be a good spot. We were wrong 1. No cleaning service and NO 24 hour concierge. Well, a person is down stairs, but they never have anything you need and they can't leave the post, so that's less than helpful. 2. We weren't given enough towels for everyone and had to ask for more. We are staying a week and at no point were we given new towels. That would be ok, but no laundry! 3. The place looked like there had been a semester long frat party in it. Furniture was worn and chipped and most of it was actually missing. The TV was on a side table and there was NO rug at all. The bathroom mirror was peeling off and the bathtub would not drain. So you had to stand in a foot of water while showering. 4. The location is not good. Unless you are going to the UN. (This one is on me. I could have read a map) 5. The sofa was missing cushions 6. The place had NOT been vacuumed before we came in and the toilet runs and runs. 7. The water pressure is GREAT! In fact it could injure you. So that's a plus I guess. Well, I could go on and on. The hallways smell of smoke, urine and trash. Maybe we got a horrible unit??? This place has been the worst. Good thing we aren't in the room much. But I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere. 5.…
