Love this place! I can't believe, as a long time, frequent NYC visitor (work here a lot) that this was my first experience with The Standard East Village. I can promise it will not be my last. The location is perfect, the staff accommodating and SUPER friendly, and the room and view I had, on the corner of the 20th...

The only hotel I rang to actually take the time to help my family of five get the right room at a fair price. Ramzi, one of the managers; an angel. He went beyond the call of duty to make us feel so well cared for and comfy. We love this hotel. Fab staff, great eats, charming and clean. Stay...

This hotel is in a terrific location in the middle of the East Village scene, an easy walk to the heart of Soho, East Village, NYU and subways. The downstairs bar/restaurant draws a good crowd and has loud music on the weekend evenings until the wee hours. I suppose I should have known when I saw the ear plugs in...

Great vibe and great location, in the heart of the east village and short walking distance to soho/Greenwich/union square. We stayed on the 10th floor and had amazing skyline views. Beds so comfortable I wish I could have packed it and took it home. Popular bistro/bar but could always get a table/stool to enjoy the cocktails & chicken wings, frequented...

Standard east is a cool, relaxed hotel - typical of the trend set out by starck/ schrager a decade ago. Very Small but comfortable rooms, nice views, hip location. Not luxury, just good design - while some time a bit "cheap materials" - take a high floor to enjoy the view and be away from street noise. Ear plugs are...

Stayed here last week and thought I should put a review. The rooms are amazing. The internet is rapid, the beds so comfortable and I love the touch of the warm bathroom floor…and even the design of the carpet flowing through. Its also in the right part of town for where people should be. I could not fault the hotel...

I had to take a minute to share my experience here. A cool, stylish and happening spot. Conveniently located. Extraordinary friendly staff. Excellent amenities. And a new restaurant which was absolutely fantastic. I'll be a regular here.

Our stay at The Standard was pretty much perfect. The beds are so comfortable - like, sleeping on a cloud comfortable - and all the room details are beautiful and well thought out -from the shower, to the bath products and robes and, of course, the view. The service is friendly, poised and thorough. Expensive but delicious breakfast in the...

We were blown away by the style and service. The attention to detail was impressive. The rooms, while on the smallish side, we're well done. The new lobby, garden and cafe have a very cool vibe. The new restaurant was amazing! We loved everything about it.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
